Age Limit

Applicants should be not less than 22 years and not more than 45 years.

The age limit does not apply to those employed in Government or State Statutory Institutions.

Required Qualifications

NVQ Level 5 or higher in the relevant field from a recognized Technical/Vocational Training Institution.
OR NVQ Level 4 in the relevant field with at least 3 years of experience after obtaining the qualification.
Experience should be in a government institution, state corporation, board, statutory body, or recognized private institution.
For Instructor (English Language), candidates must have at least a diploma-level qualification or higher from a recognized institution.

Job Overview

Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Sri Lanka for the post of Director General at the University of Vocational Technology.

The Director General is responsible for the general administration and disciplinary control of non-academic staff of the University, subject to the direction and control of the Vice Chancellor.

Salary Scale

U-EX3 (1) – 2025

Rs. 189,530 – 11×4,850 – 246,780 per month

Salaries will be paid as per Management Services Circular No. 06/2025 dated 25.03.2025

01) Branch Principal (HM 1-3)

✅ Qualifications – External

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Science or any other Degree relevant to the subject area of the post which is recognized by the University Grants Commission.
With a Postgraduate Degree qualification (Masters) in the relevant field OR Associate Membership of a recognized professional chartered Institute, which is relevant to the subject area of the post. (For engineering post Corporate Membership)
Minimum of 15 years experience at a managerial level in a Corporation, Statutory Board/Institution or a reputed private institution, out of which 2 years should be at the Senior Managerial Level Category.

Having obtained the qualifications required by the external candidates mentioned above, OR
Completion of minimum 02 years satisfactory service in a post in the Deputy Branch Principal Category (HM 1-1), in the subject area relevant to the post.

Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six subjects in not more than two sittings with credit passes for four subjects including Sinhala/Tamil and Mathematics.

✅ Qualifications – Internal

The Employees of the CGTTI drawing salaries on PL 1 salary scale and PL 3 scale provided that they have passed G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in six subjects not more than in two sittings and having credit passes for Mathematics and a Language subject are eligible to apply.

04) Driver (PL 3)

✅ Qualifications – External

Having sat for the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination and passed a minimum of 02 subjects and having obtained the license issued by the Commissioner General Department of Motor traffic to drive heavy vehicles.
And a minimum of three (03) years experience in driving after obtaining the driving license.

✅ Qualifications – Internal

Having obtained the license issued by the Commissioner General Department of Motor traffic to drive heavy vehicles and a minimum of three (03) years experience in driving after obtaining the driving license.
And completion of minimum five (05) years satisfactory service in a post in the category of primary Unskilled. (PL-1)

💰 Salary Scale

According to the DMS Circular No. 01/2025
PL 3 – Rs. 43,280 – 490×10 – 540×10 – 590×10 – 630×12 – 67,040/-
(In addition, government approved allowances will be paid.)
Salary as at 01.01.2026 – Rs. 40,834.00

05) General Conditions & How to Apply (Full)

📌 General Conditions

Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
Should be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post well and to serve in any part of the Island.
Should be of excellent moral character.
The employees appointed to this category externally will be on probation for a period of three years (confirmation subject to satisfactory performance and conduct). The employees selected internally who are already confirmed in the previous post will be subjected to an acting period of one year.
Recruitment to the above post will be on the starting salary step.
Employee’s contribution towards employees’ provident fund will be 08% of the salary, while contribution of the Institution will be 12% and 03% towards the employees’ Trust Fund.
