  • 50 Minutes Period Time Table
  • 7 Periods for a Day

Ministry of Public administration, Provincial Council and local government has released a circular on Implementing the “Seiri Week” to maintain public institutions in a well-organized manner parallel to the “Clean Sri Lanka” national programme.

It is the responsibility of all heads of public institutions to create a clean, healthy and safe environment that helps the officers in their institutions perform their duties properly and freely. Such an environment will also create a positive impression of the office among the service recipients. Creating a peaceful and free working environment for officers will also contribute to the effective and efficient utilization of the limited space available in public institutions. As one step towards this end, it has been decided to declare and implement a “Seiri Week” for disposing of the unnecessary items accumulated in all public institutions. Accordingly, this programme should be implemented from 01st to 04th of September 2025.

The Ministry of Education has cancelled the previous Subaha Scholarship circular and issued a new one, effective for the 2023 and later O/L batches.

Ministry of Public Administration has released the Circular of Revision of pension based on the entitled salary for the 01.01.2018, 01.01.2019 and 01.01.2020 as per the 2025 budget proposals.

Circular No - 15/2025

This revision should be implemented under three phases in the following manner

01. 
Revision of pensions of all public officers and officers in three armed forces, who retired on or before 01.01.2018, based on the salary to which entitlement was to be made on 01.01.2018 by the circulars mentioned in the first paragraph, should be implemented from 01.07.2025. Also, beneficiaries, who are receiving Widows’/Widowers’ and Orphans’ and disabled pension benefits for the government officers, who demised or retired before that date whilst in service or demised after retirement, are also entitled to this benefit under this revision

Education Ministry has released a circular on Government Nutrition Programme to Provide Meals for School Children.

Contents of the Circular
  • Responsibility for implementing the government's nutrition programme to provide food to school children at the national, provincial and zonal levels is assigned to the Health Promotion Committees, and these committees are involved in the implementation of the programme. Maintaining those committees actively and evaluating and regulating via them.
  • Selection of schools for the government nutrition programme is done as follows to provide meals to school children
  • Providing meals at school level
  • The Food Committee should be actively functioning in every school and the Food Committee should ensure the safety of food. In terms of the Ministry of Education's Circular No.35/2015 in relation to the operation of school canteens, the School Food Committee, as a sub-committee of the School Development Society, should be chaired by the Principal or a Deputy Principal nominated by the Principal and its composition  
  • Ensuring the appropriateness of the food preparation location, preparation process and distribution process.
  • Properly maintaining information relevant to the government's nutrition programme for providing meals to school children
  • Proper delegation of responsibilities and accountability
  • Providing quality and quantity of meals to meet the daily energy (Calorie and nutritional needs of school - age children
  • Expenditure of Credit
  • Maintaining the information system up to date
  • The school must properly maintain the documents in relation to the government nutrition program for providing meals to school children
  • Programmes to uplift nutritional states of schools children and school community
  • Conducting Progress Reviews Meetings
  • Research and Conducting Studies
  • Implementation of the "Home Grown School Feeding Programme" for the Sustainable Existence of the food programme.
  • Obtaining support from external parties
  • Acting in cases food materials are receieved as donations
  • Implementation of Support Programms

Official Language Policy Changed for Government Servants

 

Ministry of Public administration has amended the Implementation of Official Language Policy circular.

There are two options for government servants to select and complete.
  • Complete 200 / 150 / 100 Hour Courses relevant to their Service Category
or
  • Pass in Second Language (Sinhala/ Tamil) + Passing Oral Test of Official Language Exam.
AND Also the concession period has been extended till 2026.10.16 for completion of Official Language requirements.

Education Ministry has released the Circular on Home Economics skills development competition.

Circular Date - 11.04.2025

Objectives
  1. Developing student expertise in food and nutrition.
  2. Developing student expertise in textile technology.
  3. Developing student expertise in child development.
  4. Developing student expertise in household management.
  5. Developing practical life skills.
  6. Encouraging innovative approaches for Resource Management.
  7. Promoting the sustainable use of local raw materials.
  8. Focus on traditional cooking methods, the use of local foods, and food security.
  9. Mastering the art of hospitality and serving of food.
  10. Encouraging research-based approaches.
  11. Developing students' entrepreneurial skills and providing opportunities to enter the job market.
  12. Providing opportunities for students to develop their theoretical knowledge.

Instructions for Competitions
  • Students who study Home Economics in Grades 10 and 11 shall only be allowed to participate in the competitions.
  • Objectives, conditions, and scoring system of each competition should be explained to students.
  • Decision of the Secretary of Education on competitions shall be final.

  • School Level - Before April 15
  • Divisional Level  Before May 01
  • Zonal Level - Before June 15
  • Provincial level - Before August 15
  • National level - Before October 15
