Applications Invited

The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka has invited applications for the Hindu Daham Pasal Final Certificate Examination 2026, also referred to as the Araneri Schools Final Certificate Examination.

The examination is expected to be conducted in October 2026. Applications will be accepted from 24 July 2026 to 24 August 2026.

Eligibility

Applicants should possess at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Have passed Grade 10 at an Araneri School conducted or registered under the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs and completed the Final Certificate class either fully or partly.
  • Have passed Hinduism as a subject at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.

  • 01 – History of Hinduism
  • 02 – Hindu Philosophy
  • 03 – Hindu Literature
  • 04 – Hinduism: A Way of Life / Practice of Religion

Examination Fee

  • Applicants appearing for the first time are exempted from the examination fee.
  • The general examination fee is Rs. 200.
  • External applicants should pay Rs. 200.
  • The fee for completing a previously referred subject is Rs. 50.
  • The applicable fee should be paid through a post office under Revenue Head 20-03-02-13.
  • The original payment receipt should be attached to the application.
  • Payment by stamps or money orders is not accepted.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be submitted through the relevant registered Araneri School.
  • Private or external applicants cannot apply directly to the Department of Examinations.
  • Eligible external applicants should apply through the Araneri School nearest to their place of residence.
  • The application should be completed in duplicate.
  • The original application should be sent to the Department of Examinations, while the duplicate should be retained by the Head of the Araneri School.
  • The Head of the Araneri School must sign the application and place the institution’s official stamp.
  • Applicants requiring special facilities should clearly mention their requirements and attach copies of the relevant medical certificates.
  • Applications should be sent by registered post early enough to reach the Department before the closing date.

The Department of Examinations has invited applications for the Catholic Daham Pasal (Catechism School) Final Certificate Examination relevant to the year 2025.

Examination centres will be established according to the number of candidates. If there are insufficient candidates for a particular town, candidates may be assigned to a nearby examination centre.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have fulfilled at least one of the following requirements:

  • Passed Grade 10 of a Catechism School and studied for at least one year in a Catholic Daham Pasal Final Certificate Examination class.
  • Passed Catholicism at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
  • Passed Grade 11 of the Diocesan Annual Catechetical Examination.

Language Medium

  • The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
  • A candidate may select only one language medium.
  • The selected language medium cannot be changed after submitting the application.

Application Procedure

  • Applications must be submitted through the Head of the relevant Catholic Daham Pasal/Catechism School.
  • Application forms and instructions have been sent to Catechism Schools registered with the Department of Examinations.
  • A newly registered school must attach a copy of its registration certificate issued by the Department of Christian Religious Affairs.
  • The Head of School must prepare two copies of the application. The original must be submitted to the Department of Examinations, while the second copy must be retained by the principal.
  • Both copies must be signed by the principal.
  • Candidates with special needs must declare this in the application and attach copies of the relevant medical certificates.
  • Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be rejected.
Candidates must verify their name, National Identity Card number, subjects and other information before signing the application.

Examination Fees

  • First-time applicants: No examination fee.
  • Completing one under-pass subject: Rs. 50.
  • Other eligible applicants: Rs. 200.
  • Examination fees must be collected by the Head of the Catechism School and paid through a post office.
  • Stamps and money orders will not be accepted.
  • Fees paid will not be refunded or transferred to another examination.

Write the name of the examination and the selected examination town on the top-left corner of the envelope. Applicants are advised not to wait until the closing date to post their applications.

Subjects and Pass Requirements

  • The examination consists of four papers.
  • Each paper carries 100 marks.
  • Candidates must pass all four subjects to obtain the final certificate.
  • A candidate who fails only one subject will be treated as an under-pass candidate.
  • The under-pass subject must be completed within the next two consecutive examinations from the first sitting.

Eligibility

An applicant must satisfy at least one of the following requirements:

  • Have passed Grade 10 at an Ahadhiyya school registered with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and have studied for at least one year in the Final Certificate class; or
  • Have passed Islam as a subject at the G.C.E. O/L or G.C.E. A/L Examination; or
  • Have passed Islam and Arabic at the Senior School Certificate Examination.
Important: Candidates cannot apply directly as private/external applicants. Applications must be submitted through the Principal of a registered Ahadhiyya Daham Pasal or Arabic College.

Examination Fee

  • First-time candidates: No examination fee.
  • Other eligible candidates: Rs. 200.
  • Under-pass candidates: Rs. 50 per subject.

The Principal must collect applicable fees and pay them through a post office to Revenue Head 20-03-02-13. The receipt must be attached to the application.

How to Apply

  1. Obtain the application through the registered Ahadhiyya Daham Pasal or Arabic College, or download it with the official notice below.
  2. Complete two copies. The original must be sent to the Department of Examinations and the second copy retained by the Principal.
  3. The candidate must check and sign the completed information. Both copies must be signed by the Principal.
  4. If the school or college is newly registered, attach a copy of its registration certificate.
  5. Candidates with special needs must state this in the application and attach copies of the relevant medical certificates.
  6. Send the completed application by registered post on or before 24 August 2026.
