Grade 10 ICT Syllabus Amended in 2026 – Grade 11 IT to Be Revised in 2027 | 2027 O/L ICT to Follow New Syllabus

 

The Ministry of Education has released a special official letter regarding amendments to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) syllabus at the GCE Ordinary Level.

According to the notification:

  • The Grade 10 ICT syllabus has been revised in 2026.

  • The Grade 11 ICT syllabus will be amended in 2027.

  • The 2027 GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) ICT examination will be conducted based on the newly revised syllabus.

Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment of Teachers (Sinhala, Tamil & English Medium) – 2026 National and Provincial Schools – Sri Lanka

With reference to the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2474/19 dated 02 February 2026, calling for applications for the Open Competitive Examination – 2026 to recruit teachers for existing vacancies in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium in National and Provincial Schools islandwide,

According to Section 5.1 of the said Gazette Notification,

The closing date for fulfilling the required degree qualifications has been revised to 05 March 2026.

This amendment has been approved at the Cabinet Meeting held on 16 February 2026.

The Department of Examinations has released a special announcement regarding the postponement of the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Government Librarians’ Service – 2025 (2026).


The above examination, which was scheduled to be held on 21 February 2026, has been postponed until further notice at the request of the Director General of Combined Services.

Submit Photos on Cyclone Ditwah


Open Invitation to Professional and Amateur Photographers and the General Public to Contribute to the “National Visual Chronicle” on Cyclone Ditwah

The President’s Media Division, in collaboration with the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, is compiling a National Visual Chronicle documenting the impact of Cyclone Ditwah on Sri Lanka and the subsequent recovery process. Accordingly, the President’s Media Division invites professional and amateur photographers as well as the public to submit relevant photographs.

This initiative is being carried out under the Government programme for the documentation and preservation of photographs capturing significant historical events in Sri Lanka.
In this context, plans are underway to hold this National Photography Exhibition from 13 to 17 February 2026 at the premises of the Lotus Tower, Colombo.

Photographs reflecting the impact of Cyclone Ditwah and the resulting disaster on daily life, emergency relief efforts provided to affected communities, initiatives aimed at recovery and restoration, safe shelters established for displaced persons and the rebuilding of livelihoods can be submitted.

A special committee will select suitable photographs. The selected images will be displayed to the public at the National Exhibition and included in the official photo book. In addition, they will be featured in a online visual archive together with relevant information on image credits and copyright information.
Photographs can be submitted on or before 16 January 2026 via:

No Time Change for School Hours

 

Education Ministry has released a special announcement to not changing school hours for the year 2026.

Detailed Circular will be released on 02.01.2026

  • School Time 7.30 - 1.30
  • Periods - 07
  • Time of a single Period - 45 Minutes
  • Grade 06 New Syllabus will be started on 21.01.2026

School Operations and Academic Activities for 2026
  • School hours for Grades 5–13 will remain from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., as before.
  • The first school term will commence on 05.01.2026.
  • There will be 7 periods per day for Grades 6–13, and each period will be 45 minutes in duration.
  • New education reforms will be implemented in 2026 for Grade 1 and Grade 6.
Grade 6
  • Under the new education reforms, academic activities for Grade 6 will officially commence on 21.01.2026.
  • Learning modules for Grade 6 will be provided before the commencement of academic activities.
Grade 1
  • Student identification for Grade 1 will take place on 05.01.2026.
  • Academic activities for Grade 1 will commence on 29.01.2026.
  • Activity books for Grade 1 will be provided before the commencement of academic activities.
Other Notes
  • Textbooks for the other classes have already been distributed.
  • The remaining sessions of the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination will be held from 12.01.2026 to 20.01.2026.
  • The circular related to this announcement will be issued on 02.01.2026.
