• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka and aged 23 - 65 years.

• Should have passed G.C.E. (O/L) with six subjects, in at least two sittings

• Hold NVQ Level 03/04 in Tour Guiding.

• Applicants with 05 years' experience as an Area Tourist Guide

• 08 years' experience as a Site Tourist Guide are also eligible.

• Must possess a valid driving license for 07-seater vehicles, which must have been held for a minimum period of five (05) years.

• A candidate should have passed General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination, 

• an equivalent qualification or a course equivalent to SLQF level 2 (Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework) or NVQ 4 (National Vocational Qualification) 

• Credit pass (C)for English at GCE (O/L) 

• Pass (S) for General English at GCE (A/L) 

• Basic or Professional English Certificate from a recognized university 

• Pass at the National Certificate in English (NCE) 

• Pass at the compulsory English examination conducted by a university as a requirement for the award of a degree. 

• A degree in English medium from a recognized university. 

• Any other qualification, the Board of Studies may, on case-by-case evaluation, consider suitable, and acceptable to the Senate

• Two-year Diploma in Agriculture from any School of Agriculture of the Department of Agriculture, Advanced Technological Institutes

• G.C.E. (O/L) Six passes in one sitting with four credit passes including Science and Mathematics And
• G.C.E. (A/L) (Old Syllabus) Passes in at least three (03) of the following G.C.E. (A/L) subjects in one sitting; Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Pure Maths, Applied Maths and Agriculture. OR G.C.E. (A/L) (New Syllabus) Passes in at least three (03) of the following G.C.E. (A/L) subjects in one sitting Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Maths and Agriculture.

• Applicants should be 18 years old or over on the closing date of application, .

• Students who have been awarded the Diploma in Early Childhood and Primary Education by the Open University of Sri Lanka,

• Awarded National Diploma in Teaching (Primary Education) offered by the National College of Education.

• Students who have completed the Diploma Programme (Open University of Sri Lanka/National College of Education) must follow Level 5 and Level 6 in the same language.
