✓ General Admission Requirements

  • Applicants should have passed all three main G.C.E. A/L subjects in one sitting.
  • General English will not be considered as one of the three main G.C.E. A/L subjects.
  • Applicants should have an Ordinary Pass for English and Mathematics at the G.C.E. O/L Examination, unless a programme requires a higher qualification.
  • The G.C.E. A/L and G.C.E. O/L examinations must have been conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka.
  • Applicants must fulfil all programme-specific entry qualifications before the closing date.
  • Preference will be given to full-time applicants below 23 years of age as at the closing date.
  • Priority will be given to applicants who completed the G.C.E. A/L Examination in 2025.
  • Applicants are encouraged to select programmes offered by the Advanced Technological Institute nearest to their permanent residence.

Full-Time – 2½ Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in the Commerce stream in one sitting, with O/L English and Mathematics passes.

HNDBF – Business Finance

Full-Time – 2½ Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in the Commerce stream in one sitting, with O/L English and Mathematics passes.

HNDE – Civil Engineering

Full-Time – 3½ Years

HNDFT – Food Technology

Full-Time – 2½ Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in the Bio Science or Physical Science stream in one sitting, together with O/L English and Mathematics passes.

HNDIT – Information Technology

Full-Time and Part-Time – 2½ Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in any stream in one sitting, together with O/L English and Mathematics passes. Part-time applicants must be employed or self-employed in a relevant field.

HNDM – Management

Full-Time – 3 Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in any stream with O/L English and Mathematics passes. Certain DTET accounting or business certificates are also accepted subject to the official conditions.

HNDPM – Project Management

Full-Time – 2½ Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in any stream in one sitting, together with O/L English and Mathematics passes.

HNDT – Agriculture

Full-Time – 3 Years

Bio Science stream with Biology and Chemistry together with Physics or Agriculture, or Bio-System Technology stream with Bio-System Technology, Science for Technology and Agriculture. O/L English and Mathematics passes are also required.

HNDTHM – Tourism and Hospitality Management

Full-Time – 3 Years

Passed G.C.E. A/L in any stream in one sitting, together with O/L English and Mathematics passes.

1 How to Apply

  1. Visit the official application portal at apply.sliate.ac.lk.
  2. Click Create New Account and register using a valid email address and mobile number.
  3. Enter the OTP sent to the registered email address or mobile number to verify the account.
  4. Enter the required G.C.E. A/L and G.C.E. O/L examination information accurately.
  5. The system will display the HND programmes for which the applicant is eligible.
  6. Select up to 10 ATI and HND programme combinations according to preference. Selecting all 10 choices is not compulsory.
  7. Pay the Rs. 1,000 application fee and enter the Transaction Reference Number in the online application.
  8. Upload the bank payment receipt where required. The receipt image should be less than 1 MB.
  9. Check the application preview carefully and submit the online application.
  10. Download and print the system-generated application.
  11. Sign the printed application and send it with the payment receipt by registered post to the applicant's first preferred ATI.

G GovPay Payment Procedure

  1. Open the applicant's bank mobile application.
  2. Select Bill Payment.
  3. Select GovPay under the bill payment category.
  4. Select Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education as the institution.
  5. Select Application Fee as the service type.
  6. Enter the requested details and submit the payment.

🏠 Hostel Facilities

Female Students Only ATI Dehiwala and ATI Gampaha
Male and Female Students ATI Ampara and ATI Colombo

Hostel facilities are limited and will be provided only to a limited number of full-time students upon request.

! Important Conditions

Government University Eligibility: Students who are registered for a full-time SLIATE HND programme of three years or longer will not be eligible for admission to a Government University or Higher Education Institute established under the Universities Act.

Minimum Student Number: At least 50 students should register for a programme to commence at a particular ATI. Students may be transferred to the nearest ATI offering the same programme when the required number is not available.

Training: Full-time students must complete at least six months of in-plant training. Part-time students must complete a relevant project or industrial training period.

Transfers: Transfers to another ATI will not be permitted after enrolment in a full-time programme.

Cancellation: Registration may be cancelled within the permitted 60-day period without a penalty. A fee of Rs. 5,000 per month, up to a maximum of Rs. 30,000, may be charged for later cancellation by full-time students.

False Information: Applications containing false or misleading information will be rejected.

Applicants without access to online facilities may visit the nearest ATI to obtain assistance with the online application process.

Applicants must possess one of the following:

  • Diploma in Nursing or General Certificate in Nursing awarded by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka
  • Diploma in Nursing awarded by the Open University of Sri Lanka

Applicants must have obtained a minimum of three Pass grades in one sitting in the Science stream at the Sri Lankan G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.

Applicants must possess either:

  • A minimum Simple Pass – S – for English at the Sri Lankan G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination
  • An equivalent or higher English qualification acceptable to the Senate of the University

Applicants must pass the selection interview and become eligible for admission according to the merit list prepared using the selection interview marks.
