Applications are invited for the Translation Diploma Course (Sinhala–Tamil) 2026/2027 conducted by the National Institute of Language Education and Training under the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

This course is designed to provide the language knowledge and practical training required for translation-related work. It also supports the implementation of the Government’s Official Languages Policy and helps participants communicate effectively with Sinhala- and Tamil-speaking communities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be permanent employees of an eligible organization and satisfy all the following requirements:

Diploma: A two-year Diploma in Agriculture from a School of Agriculture of the Department of Agriculture or an Advanced Technological Institute.
G.C.E. O/L: Six passes in one sitting, including four credit passes with Science and Mathematics.
G.C.E. A/L - Old Syllabus: Passes in at least three subjects in one sitting from Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Agriculture; or
G.C.E. A/L - New Syllabus: Passes in at least three subjects in one sitting from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Mathematics and Agriculture.
Experience: At least five years of experience, as at the closing date, as a permanent employee in the government or private sector in the field of Agriculture after obtaining the Diploma in Agriculture.

The Automobile Engineering Training Institute (AETI), operating under the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, invites applications from Sri Lankan youth for its 2027 full-time apprentice courses. Applicants must generally be between 16 and 25 years of age as at 1 January 2027.

Male and female applicants may apply. Scholarships are available for selected students from low-income families and Aswesuma beneficiary families.

Courses 5–6: Passed Grade 8 in a government school or government-recognized school.
Course 7 – ICT Technician: Passed the G.C.E. O/L examination in not more than two sittings with six subjects, including Sinhala, Mathematics and English.
Age: 16–25 years as at 1 January 2027.
Gender: Male and female applicants are eligible.

Obtain the bank pay-in slip and write the depositor’s name and NIC number on the slip. Online payments and CDM payments are not accepted.

Attach the original pay-in slip in the space provided on the back of the application.

Use the application form published with the Sinhala Gazette notice dated 28 August 2026 and complete it carefully.

📚 Important Educational Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the relevant G.C.E. (O/L) requirements specified for the selected course.
Generally, six O/L subjects must be passed with the required Credit Passes in Sinhala/Tamil, English, Mathematics, Science and other specified subjects, within not more than two sittings.
Eligible A/L examination years are 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, subject to the conditions stated in the official notice.
Applicants must satisfy the exact subject combinations and grades required for each training course.

🌊 About the Diploma Programme

Applications are invited from eligible unmarried Sri Lankan candidates for admission to the Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology – 2026, conducted by the International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management, Kothmale.

The institute functions under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation and is registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

The programme is a three-year, full-time course consisting of a two-year residential academic training period, followed by a one-year field training period.

Important: The course is conducted in English Medium. Successful trainees will receive an NVQ Level 6 Diploma Certificate, subject to completing the required written and practical examinations.

Applicants must be unmarried Sri Lankan citizens.
Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting, with Credit Passes in Sinhala or Tamil, English Language, Mathematics and Science.

⚠️ Special Conditions

The training course will be conducted in English Medium.
Expenses related to the academic programme will be borne by the Government of Sri Lanka, and residential facilities will be provided by the institute.

Selected trainees must sign an agreement to follow the discipline and ethics of the training institution and complete the full training period successfully.
Selected applicants must undergo a medical examination and submit the completed medical form at registration.
A trainee who leaves the programme before completing the training may be required to repay the expenses incurred by the Government.
