Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) has invited applications for the National Tourist Guide Programme – 2026. Applicants with A/L qualifications, tourism experience, or relevant guide qualifications can apply online before 31.05.2026.

Course Details
- Programme : National Tourist Guide Programme
- Institution : Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM)
- Course Duration : 05 Months (Full Time)
- Course Fee : Rs. 152,000.00
- Course Venue : SLITHM Colombo
- Closing Date : 31.05.2026
Entry Qualifications
- Applicant should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Age should be between 18 – 65 years on the closing date.
- Passed G.C.E A/L Examination in all subjects in not more than two attempts in one sitting.
- OR Possess a University Degree recognized by the University Grants Commission.
- OR Minimum 05 years continuous service experience as a Licensed Chauffeur Tourist Guide.
- OR Completed a Tour Guiding Programme at NVQ Level 04.
- OR Minimum 08 years continuous service experience as a Licensed Area Tourist Guide.
Language Proficiency
Priority will be given to applicants proficient in foreign languages other than English.
- English applicants should have passed English at G.C.E O/L with a credit pass.
- Applicants for other languages should prove language proficiency through certificates or living/working experience.
- Recognized language proficiency certificates are accepted.
Selection Procedure
- Applicants will be selected through an interview and language competency test.
- An additional fee of Rs. 5,000/- will be charged for the language test.
- Preference will be given for French, German, Korean, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Russian, Japanese and Greek languages.
