📘 About the Programme

The University of Tsukuba, Japan has invited applications for its Program in Economic and Public Policy (PEPP) for the 2027–2029 intake.

PEPP is an English-taught postgraduate programme leading to a Master of Arts in International Public Policy. The programme is designed to develop professionals capable of designing, analysing and implementing economic and public policies.

The programme gives particular emphasis to economics, econometrics, quantitative policy analysis and modern data-driven approaches.

📝 Academic Requirements During the Programme

Students undertake advanced coursework and research in economics and public policy and are required to prepare a master's thesis based on rigorous quantitative analysis.

Students who successfully complete the required coursework (at least 30 credits) and pass the thesis oral examination will be awarded the MA in International Public Policy.

⚠️ Important Instructions for Sri Lankan Applicants

Applications must be submitted directly to the University of Tsukuba / programme authorities according to the official Application Guidelines.

The Sri Lankan Department of External Resources (ERD) does not receive or process applications for this programme.

Suitable degree areas include: Chemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Environmental Sciences, Medicine, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences and other related fields.
Must have experience in scientific laboratory research.
Must demonstrate English language proficiency, preferably through TOEFL, IELTS or an appropriate university certification relating to the medium of instruction.
Must submit a Statement of Purpose explaining the applicant's interest in the proposed study.

⏳ Duration of the Programme

The scholarship consists of:

📘 Approximately 6 weeks of refresher courses
🎓 Followed by a 2-year Master's Degree programme

📅 Refresher courses are tentatively scheduled to commence in June 2027.

🎓 The academic programme is expected to commence in August 2027.

🇱🇰 Important Instructions for Sri Lankan Applicants

This call is intended for suitably qualified Sri Lankan public sector officials.

Applicants should obtain the necessary approval and nomination through their respective Ministry, Department or institution.

After completing the CGI online application, applicants are required to forward the following documents to the Department of External Resources:

Nomination Letter from the respective Ministry, including a covering letter with recommendation
Duly completed ERD Application Form

⚠️ Applicants should ensure that their name is written exactly as it appears in the passport across all application documents.

For children of active Employees’ Trust Fund members who sat for the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination

Financial assistance for approved vocational training courses

📢 Important: Passing the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination is not essential. Students only need to have sat for the 2025 examination, subject to the other eligibility requirements.

💰 Benefit Offered

Financial assistance of up to Rs. 50,000.
Available for one approved vocational training course.
The scheme covers selected courses recognized at NVQ Levels 3, 4 and 5.
Courses must be conducted by training institutions registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

✅ Basic Qualifications

The applicant should be a student who sat for the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination. Passing the examination is not essential.
Both school candidates and external candidates may apply. An external candidate should not be more than 23 years of age.
The student’s mother, father or legal guardian should have been an active ETF member when the student sat for the examination in December 2025.
Contributions should have been paid continuously on behalf of the relevant member from January 2025 to December 2025.
For children of active ETF members registered under self-employment, contributions should have been paid continuously for approximately 36 months before the month of the examination.
If both parents are ETF members, only one parent should submit the application.
A student is entitled to receive this financial assistance only once.

📘 Eligible Courses

Applicants may select one course from the approved vocational training programmes recognized at NVQ Levels 3, 4 or 5.

Applicants should carefully check the approved course and training-institution lists published by the Employees’ Trust Fund Board.

💳 Course Fee Payment

Subject to the official conditions, the course fee may be paid directly to the approved training institution or reimbursed after successful completion of the course.

The course registration fee must be paid by the applicant and is not reimbursed.

Clear copy of the student’s National Identity Card
Clear copy of the student’s birth certificate
Student’s G.C.E. Advanced Level examination index number
Clear copy of the ETF member’s National Identity Card

Master’s and Doctoral degree scholarship opportunities in the Republic of Korea for eligible public officials of the Government of Sri Lanka.

⏰ Closing: 2.00 p.m. – 06 July 2026

The Department of External Resources has invited nominations from eligible Sri Lankan government officers for the 2027 KOICA CIAT Scholarship Programme.

A total of 15 degree programmes are available in fields including public management, digital innovation, health, fisheries, agriculture, climate change, social economy and economic development.

Applications should be forwarded through the relevant ministry or institution according to the instructions contained in the official invitation letter for the selected programme.

📌 Important Application Instructions

The opportunities are intended for eligible public officials of the Government of Sri Lanka.
Applicants must carefully check the eligibility requirements, scholarship coverage and selection procedure in the relevant programme guidelines.
Applications should be submitted with a nomination or approval letter from the relevant line ministry.
Submit the completed KOICA application, supporting documents, relevant passport pages and the completed ERD application form.
Each ministry is generally requested to submit one or a maximum of two suitable applications for a programme.
Applications accepted by ERD will still be subject to the final selection process conducted by KOICA, the Korean Embassy and the relevant university.
Applicants are advised to submit complete applications as early as possible due to the limited number of nomination slots.

Incomplete or late applications may not be considered. A programme may close before the stated deadline once the available nomination quota has been filled.
