Curriculum Reforms – 2027

Sri Lanka Law College has officially announced curriculum reforms that will take effect from the Academic Year 2027.

The revised curriculum outlines subjects for the Preliminary, Intermediate and Final Years, together with elective subjects and compulsory practical skills training requirements.

Important: Students are advised to review the updated subjects and practical training requirements outlined in the official notice issued by the Principal/Registrar of the Incorporated Council of Legal Education.

Practical Skills Training Programme

The revised curriculum also includes practical skills training during studentship.

Students will undergo practical skills training during the period of studentship.
Students must maintain a Record Book throughout their studentship.
Upon completion, students must deliver a 20-minute presentation and attend a viva based on their recorded activities.
The assessment includes a visual presentation and evaluation by a panel comprising representatives such as an officer from the Attorney General's Department, a member of the Unofficial Bar and other relevant members.
Students must participate in at least 3 moots and 1 mock trial.
Participation in legal aid activities is also required.

📌 Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Minute – Amendment No. 05

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has issued Amendment No. 05 to the Service Minute of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service through Gazette Extraordinary No. 2507/02 dated 21 September 2026.

This amendment further amends the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Minute originally published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 1885/38 dated 23 October 2014. The other particulars and conditions in the Service Minute remain unchanged.

🔹 Main Amendment

The amendment revises Section 13.8 relating to the definition and qualifications of a “Bachelor of Education Graduate”.

A Bachelor of Education graduate should meet the following criteria:

The degree must be a four-year full-time onsite programme and not an online degree programme.
The degree programme must contain a minimum of 120 credits.
The graduate must have completed at least 10 weeks of practical teaching training at a government national school, provincial school, or government-approved private school under qualified supervision or a panel of supervisors.
The degree programme must include a research dissertation/report carrying a minimum of 6 credits.

The degree must have been obtained from a university established under the Universities Act or from a degree-awarding institution/university established under another special Act of Parliament.

අධ්‍යාපන, උසස් අධ්‍යාපන සහ වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුරු සේවා ව්‍යවස්ථාවේ 05 වන සංශෝධනය නිකුත් කර ඇත.

මෙම සංශෝධනය මඟින් “අධ්‍යාපනවේදී උපාධිධාරියා” යන්නට අදාළ සුදුසුකම් සංශෝධනය කර ඇත.

අදාළ උපාධිය වසර 4ක පූර්ණකාලීන මාර්ගගත නොවන පාඨමාලාවක් වීම, අවම වශයෙන් සන්ධාර 120ක් සම්පූර්ණ කිරීම, අවම වශයෙන් සති 10ක ප්‍රායෝගික ඉගැන්වීම් පුහුණුවක් සම්පූර්ණ කිරීම සහ අවම වශයෙන් සන්ධාර 6ක පර්යේෂණ නිබන්ධනයක්/වාර්තාවක් සම්පූර්ණ කිරීම ඇතුළු කොන්දේසි මෙහි දක්වා ඇත.

The Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development together with the National Council for Road Safety has organized the “Presidential Road Safety Awards Ceremony – 2026”.

The programme aims to recognize and appreciate individuals, institutions and organizations that have made significant contributions towards improving and promoting road safety within Sri Lanka's transport sector.

Evaluation Period:
Contributions and initiatives carried out from 01 January 2025 to 30 June 2026 will be considered.

The awards also aim to encourage the adoption of best practices, innovative approaches and exemplary initiatives that contribute to safer roads and safer transportation in Sri Lanka.

Applications and nominations are invited under the relevant award categories, including categories open for public nomination.

Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships offered for postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom in 2027.

🎓 Eligibility – Master’s Degree

Applicants should possess a minimum 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF Level 6) with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in the relevant field from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka.

🎓 Eligibility – PhD

A minimum 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF Level 6) with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in the relevant field.
A relevant Master’s Degree at SLQF Level 9, 10 or 11 from a recognized university.
Applicants should not already be registered for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD in the UK or Sri Lanka before September/October 2026.
A supporting statement from a proposed UK supervisor from at least one institution listed in the application is required.

📑 Important Documents

Applicants must upload the required supporting documents before the deadline, including:

Proof of citizenship
All university academic transcripts
At least two signed references on letter-headed paper
Supporting statement from a UK supervisor – PhD applicants only

Applications with required documents missing will be considered incomplete and ineligible.

🏆 Selection Process

Eligible applicants will be shortlisted by the Ministry based on academic merit, including degree GPA and academic publications.

The CSC selection process considers:

Candidate merit, including academic and leadership experience
Quality of the proposed study plan
Potential impact of the applicant’s work on the development of Sri Lanka

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Higher Education Division, No. 18, Ward Place, Colombo 07.

SL-PULSE is Sri Lanka’s first national citizen feedback survey on public services delivered by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

The survey has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Citizens’ honest experiences and opinions will help improve public services throughout Sri Lanka.

Service and grade: Sri Lanka Foreign Service - Grade III
Number of vacancies: 25
Recruitment method: Written examination and interview for eligibility assessment, followed by selection in merit order.
Nature of post: Permanent and pensionable, subject to the conditions stated in the official notice.
Probation: Three years.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess a degree from a foreign or state university recognized by the University Grants Commission, a degree awarded by a university established by an Act of Parliament in Sri Lanka, or a degree recognized under Section 25A of the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978.

General applicants: Must have attained 22 years and must not have attained 28 years. Eligible dates of birth are from 06 October 1998 to 06 October 2004, inclusive.

Other Main Conditions

Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka and of excellent character.
Must be physically and mentally fit to serve in Sri Lanka or anywhere in the world.
A person ordained in a religious order is not eligible.
A person may sit this recruitment examination on no more than three occasions.
All required qualifications must be satisfied by the closing date.

இலங்கை வெளிநாட்டுச் சேவையின் தரம் III இற்கு ஆட்சேர்ப்பு செய்வதற்கான திறந்த போட்டிப் பரீட்சைக்கு விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன. 25 வெற்றிடங்கள் உள்ளன. அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட பட்டம் அவசியம். பொதுவான விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் முடிவுத் திகதியில் 22 வயதைப் பூர்த்தி செய்திருப்பதுடன் 28 வயதைப் பூர்த்தி செய்திருக்கக்கூடாது. உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட அரச/மாகாண அரச சேவை அலுவலர்கள் 35 வயதைப் பூர்த்தி செய்திருக்கக்கூடாது. இணையவழி விண்ணப்பம் 07 செப்டெம்பர் 2026 காலை 9.00 மணிக்குத் திறந்து 06 ஒக்டோபர் 2026 இரவு 9.00 மணிக்கு முடிவடையும். பரீட்சைக் கட்டணம் ரூ. 1,200. முழுமையான நிபந்தனைகளுக்கு உத்தியோகபூர்வ வர்த்தமானி அறிவித்தலை வாசிக்கவும்.
