Japan Tech Apprentice Intake 2027

The Automobile Engineering Training Institute (AETI), operating under the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, invites applications from Sri Lankan youth for its 2027 full-time apprentice courses. Applicants must generally be between 16 and 25 years of age as at 1 January 2027.

Male and female applicants may apply. Scholarships are available for selected students from low-income families and Aswesuma beneficiary families.

Courses, Duration and Course Fees

1. Automobile Technician

Duration: 3 years

Fee: Rs. 200,000

2. Automobile Electrician

Duration: 3 years

Fee: Rs. 200,000

3. Machinist / CNC

Duration: 3 years

Fee: Rs. 170,000

4. Automobile A/C Technician

Duration: 2 years

Fee: Rs. 70,000

5. Automobile Tinker

Duration: 1½ years

Fee: Rs. 30,000

6. Automobile Painter

Duration: 1½ years

Fee: Rs. 30,000

7. ICT Technician

Duration: 1 year

Fee: Rs. 40,000

After the full-time daytime intake, a limited number of apprentices will be recruited for full-time evening courses at an additional course fee of 50%.

Educational Qualifications

• Courses 1–4: Passed the G.C.E. O/L examination in not more than two sittings with six subjects, including Sinhala, Mathematics and Science.
• Courses 5–6: Passed Grade 8 in a government school or government-recognized school.
• Course 7 – ICT Technician: Passed the G.C.E. O/L examination in not more than two sittings with six subjects, including Sinhala, Mathematics and English.
• Age: 16–25 years as at 1 January 2027.
• Gender: Male and female applicants are eligible.

Applicants with hearing and speech impairments may apply only for courses 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7.

Application Process

Pay the application fee of Rs. 1,000 at the People’s Bank, Dematagoda Branch, to the Automobile Engineering Training Institute account 071100103320674.

Obtain the bank pay-in slip and write the depositor’s name and NIC number on the slip. Online payments and CDM payments are not accepted.

Attach the original pay-in slip in the space provided on the back of the application.

Use the application form published with the Sinhala Gazette notice dated 28 August 2026 and complete it carefully.

Send the completed application by registered post to: Director / Principal, Automobile Engineering Training Institute, No. 69/A, Baseline Road, Orugodawatta.

Write “Recruitment of Apprentices – 2027” on the top-left corner of the envelope.
