The National Housing Development Authority has invited schoolchildren across Sri Lanka to participate in an all-island drawing and essay competition organized to mark World Habitat Day – 05 October 2026.

Competition Theme: “My Beautiful Small House”

Drawings and essays should present the student’s idea of a beautiful and affordable small house that suits a family’s income and supports a happy, peaceful and independent life.

Who Can Participate?

• Students studying in government or private schools in Sri Lanka.
• Children of officers serving in the National Housing Development Authority are not eligible.

School Drawing Competition

Category 1Grades 3, 4 and 5

Category 2Grades 6, 7 and 8

Category 3Grades 9 and 10

Category 4Grades 11, 12 and 13

• Paper size: 17 × 22 inches.
• Permitted media include pastel, watercolour and colour pencils.
• Students must follow the stated size and media requirements.

School Essay Competition

Medium: Sinhala or Tamil

Category 1Grades 6, 7 and 8
Maximum 300 words

Category 2Grades 9 and 10
Maximum 500 words

Category 3Grades 11, 12 and 13
Maximum 500 words

Prizes

• 1st Place: Rs. 15,000, trophy and certificate
• 2nd Place: Rs. 12,500, trophy and certificate
• 3rd Place: Rs. 10,000, trophy and certificate
• Consolation Prizes: Ten prizes of Rs. 3,000 each and certificates

How to Submit

1. Download and complete the relevant application form.
2. Attach the application form to the drawing or essay.
3. Obtain the recommendation of the Principal of the student’s school.
4. Send the entry by registered post, deliver it personally to the address below, or hand it over to the relevant NHDA District Office.
5. Submit it on or before 15 September 2026.

• රජයේ හා පෞද්ගලික පාසල්වල සිසුන්ට සහභාගී විය හැක.
• චිත්‍ර තරගය: 3–5, 6–8, 9–10 සහ 11–13 ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා කාණ්ඩ හතරකි.
• චිත්‍රය අඟල් 17 × 22 ප්‍රමාණයේ කඩදාසියක පැස්ටල්, දිය සායම් හෝ පාට පැන්සල් භාවිතයෙන් නිර්මාණය කළ යුතුය.
• රචනා තරගය: සිංහල හෝ දෙමළ මාධ්‍යයෙන්; 6–8 ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා උපරිම වචන 300ක් සහ 9–13 ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා උපරිම වචන 500ක්.
• නිර්මාණය විදුහල්පතිගේ නිර්දේශය සමඟ ලියාපදිංචි තැපෑලෙන්, පෞද්ගලිකව හෝ අදාළ දිස්ත්‍රික් ජාතික නිවාස සංවර්ධන අධිකාරි කාර්යාලයට භාරදිය හැක.

2026 உலக வாழ்விட தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு தேசிய வீடமைப்பு அபிவிருத்தி அதிகாரசபையால் நாடளாவிய பாடசாலை சித்திர மற்றும் கட்டுரைப் போட்டி நடத்தப்படுகிறது.

போட்டித் தலைப்பு: “எனது அழகான சிறிய வீடு”

• அரச மற்றும் தனியார் பாடசாலை மாணவர்கள் பங்குபற்றலாம்.
• சித்திரப் போட்டி: தரம் 3–5, 6–8, 9–10 மற்றும் 11–13 ஆகிய நான்கு பிரிவுகள்.
• சித்திரம் 17 × 22 அங்குல தாளில் வரையப்பட வேண்டும். பெஸ்டல், நீர் வண்ணம் அல்லது வண்ணப் பென்சில்களைப் பயன்படுத்தலாம்.
• கட்டுரைப் போட்டி: சிங்களம் அல்லது தமிழ் மொழியில்; தரம் 6–8க்கு அதிகபட்சம் 300 சொற்கள், தரம் 9–13க்கு அதிகபட்சம் 500 சொற்கள்.
• பாடசாலை அதிபரின் பரிந்துரையுடன் படைப்பை பதிவுத் தபால் மூலம் அனுப்பலாம், நேரில் ஒப்படைக்கலாம் அல்லது சம்பந்தப்பட்ட தேசிய வீடமைப்பு அபிவிருத்தி அதிகாரசபையின் மாவட்ட அலுவலகத்தில் வழங்கலாம்.
