Recruitment Announcement 2026
The North Central Provincial Public Service Commission has invited applications for recruitment to Internal Audit Officer – Grade III in the Department of Internal Audit and Investigation, North Central Province.
Two separate competitive examinations have been announced:
Age: 22–35 years
For eligible external applicants
Age: 22 or above
For eligible serving officers
01. Open Competitive Examination – 2026
Closing Date: 19.10.2026
Age Limit: 22–35 Years
Examination: November 2026
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
- A degree from a UGC-recognized university in Accounting, Management, Commerce, Public Finance and Taxation, Mathematics or Economics.
- Successful completion of the prescribed Foundation or Intermediate Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, or the Intermediate Examination of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
- A Higher National Diploma in Accountancy or Commerce from SLIATE.
Other Requirements
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Must have permanent residence in the North Central Province for the three years immediately before the application deadline, subject to the spouse-residence provision in the notice.
- Must have good character and health.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to serve anywhere in the province.
- Must satisfy all qualifications by the closing date.
Age Requirements
Minimum 22 years and maximum 35 years as at 19 October 2026.
Recruitment Method
Selection is based on a competitive written examination, verification of qualifications and merit order.
The official recruitment scheme allocates 70% of the relevant vacancies to the Open stream, subject to the Commission's decisions and provisions.
02. Limited Competitive Examination – 2026
Closing Date: 19.10.2026
Minimum Age: 22 Years
Maximum Age: No upper age limit
Examination: November 2026
Who Can Apply?
The Limited Competitive Examination is intended for eligible officers already serving under the North Central Provincial Council who meet the prescribed educational, professional and service requirements.
Educational, Professional and Service Qualifications
The official notice specifies alternative qualification routes involving the following educational or professional qualifications and service categories:
- A recognized degree in Accounting, Management, Commerce, Public Finance and Taxation, Mathematics or Economics.
- The prescribed Foundation or Intermediate qualification of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
- The Intermediate qualification of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
- A Higher National Diploma in Accountancy or Commerce from SLIATE, subject to the relevant service-category conditions.
Service Experience
The notice specifies alternative eligibility routes for officers with confirmed service under the North Central Provincial Council, including:
- At least 03 years of service under the prescribed qualification and service-category route.
- At least 05 years of service under the alternative prescribed route.
The eligible routes also refer to Development Officers, officers serving in posts for which a degree is a qualification, and officers of the Provincial Public Management Service, as specified in the notice.
Additional Conditions
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Must meet the three-year permanent residence requirement in the North Central Province, subject to the spouse-residence provision.
- Must be physically and mentally fit and of good character.
- Must not have received disciplinary punishment other than a warning during the three years immediately preceding the filling of vacancies.
- Must comply with the remaining eligibility conditions in the notice.
Age Requirements
Minimum age: 22 years. The official Limited notice specifies no maximum age limit.
Recruitment Method
Selection is based on a written competitive examination and a general interview to verify qualifications.
The Limited stream is allocated 30% of the relevant vacancies. If insufficient qualified candidates are available under this stream, the balance may be filled from qualified Open Competitive Examination candidates according to the official notice.
03. Written Examination – Subjects & Marks
Both recruitment notices list the following five examination subjects. Each paper carries 100 marks and the stipulated pass-mark percentage is 40%.

Expected Examination Month: November 2026
Candidates should refer to the relevant official notification for the detailed syllabus of all five subjects.
04. Salary and Service Conditions
The salary scale specified for Internal Audit Officer Grade III is MN 4 – 2025.
Rs. 53,060 – 10 × 800 – 11 × 1,190 – 10 × 1,320 – 5 × 1,350 – Rs. 94,100
The appointments are permanent and pensionable, subject to applicable government policy decisions.

Confirmation in service is subject to the relevant conditions, including satisfactory service and the required Efficiency Bar Examination.
05. How to Apply
- Identify whether you qualify for the Open or Limited Competitive Examination.
- Download the correct official application form in Sinhala or Tamil.
- Prepare and complete the prescribed A4 application in your own handwriting, following the official specimen.
- Select the intended examination language medium.
- Pay the prescribed examination fee and attach the original receipt in the relevant space.
- Obtain the required certification of your signature. Limited applicants must obtain certification from their Head of Department.
- Send the completed application by registered post before the closing date.

Payment at a Divisional Secretariat in the North Central Province
Attach the original NC 100 payment receipt as prescribed. The fee is non-refundable.
