📢 About the Recruitment
The Southern Provincial Public Service Commission has announced an open competitive examination for recruitment to vacancies in Grade II of Class 2 of the Southern Provincial Information and Communication Technology Service – 2026.
Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications through the online application system within the prescribed application period.
💰 Salary and Service Conditions
The applicable salary code is MN 6-2025 under Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.
- Permanent and pensionable appointment.
- Salary entitlement is specified as effective from 01 January 2027.
- Three-year probationary period.
- Minimum three-year service period at the initial place of appointment, subject to the conditions in the notification.
- First Efficiency Bar Examination to be passed within three years of recruitment.
- Official language proficiency requirements apply.
🎓 Educational Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following qualification pathways.
A degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), or a UGC-recognised degree-awarding institution.
A degree with Computer Science or Information Technology as a major subject, comprising at least one-third of the degree programme, and a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology from an appropriately recognised institution.
A recognised degree in any field and a postgraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an appropriately recognised institution.
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 7 in Information Technology and two years of professional experience in the relevant field.
👤 Age and Other Eligibility
- Age: 21–35 years as at 16 October 2026.
- Eligible dates of birth: 16 October 1991 to 16 October 2005, inclusive.
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen of good character and good health.
- Must have adequate physical and mental fitness to serve anywhere in the Southern Province.
- Must have resided continuously for at least three years within the five years immediately preceding the closing date in a district of the Southern Province.
- Alternative residency provisions are available to eligible applicants who moved to the Southern Province upon marriage. Refer to the official notice.
📝 Examination Structure
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English media. Candidates must choose one medium and answer all papers in that medium. The selected medium cannot be changed.
📚 Examination Syllabus
Information and Communication Technology:
- ICT principles and fundamentals.
- Computer architecture and operating systems.
- Word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
- Database management and office software.
- Computer hardware.
- Data communication and computer networks.
- Internet services and website designing.
- Electronic mail.
- ICT project life cycles.
Aptitude Test: Statistics and critical reasoning. The paper contains 50 multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
General Intelligence: Analytical skills, logical comprehension, interpretation, numerical reasoning, language-based and figure-based problems.
🏆 Selection Procedure
Candidates will be assessed through the written competitive examination. Candidates who pass will be called for an interview according to merit.
Appointments will be determined according to merit and the number of approved vacancies. In the event of equal marks at the relevant final priority level, a tie-breaker test and educational qualifications may be considered as specified in the notification.
💳 Examination Fee
The examination fee is Rs. 1,000.
- Payment must be completed online.
- Only VISA or MasterCard payment methods are accepted.
- Applications with unpaid fees will be rejected.
- Examination fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another examination.
💻 How to Apply Online
- Visit the Southern Provincial Public Service Commission examination application portal.
- Select the correct ICT Officer Grade II Class 2 examination.
- Enter all requested personal and qualification details.
- Check the application carefully before submission.
- Pay the examination fee using an accepted bank card.
- Submit the online application before 6.00 PM on 16 October 2026.
- Download and retain a copy of the submitted application.
🎟️ Admission Cards and Examination
Admission cards will be issued online through the official Southern Provincial Public Service Commission website.
- Applicants can download admission cards using their National Identity Card number.
- The admission card must be printed on both sides of A4 paper and the signature must be attested.
- Applicants must carry their admission cards and an accepted identity document to the examination.
- Accepted identification includes a National Identity Card, valid passport or valid driving licence.

விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு பாடத்திலும் குறைந்தது 40% புள்ளிகளையும் மொத்தமாக 50% புள்ளிகளையும் பெற வேண்டும்.
