🇬🇧 Commonwealth Scholarships 2027
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships offered for postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom in 2027.

Applicants must submit their applications through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) online application system.

- Master’s: 10 nominations
- PhD: 06 nominations
📚 Fields of Study
Applicants must apply under one of the following six Commonwealth development themes:
- Science and Technology for Development
- Improving Population Health, Health Systems and Capacity
- Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Strengthening Peace, Security and Governance
- Strengthening Resilience and Response to Crises
- Access, Inclusion and Opportunity
✅ General Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants should be in good health.
- Applicants must be prepared to live in the UK during the period of study.
- Applicants must satisfy both CSC and Ministry eligibility requirements.
🎓 Eligibility – Master’s Degree
Applicants should possess a minimum 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF Level 6) with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in the relevant field from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka.
🎓 Eligibility – PhD
- A minimum 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF Level 6) with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in the relevant field.
- A relevant Master’s Degree at SLQF Level 9, 10 or 11 from a recognized university.
- Applicants should not already be registered for a PhD or an MPhil leading to a PhD in the UK or Sri Lanka before September/October 2026.
- A supporting statement from a proposed UK supervisor from at least one institution listed in the application is required.
📑 Important Documents
Applicants must upload the required supporting documents before the deadline, including:
- Proof of citizenship
- All university academic transcripts
- At least two signed references on letter-headed paper
- Supporting statement from a UK supervisor – PhD applicants only
Applications with required documents missing will be considered incomplete and ineligible.
🏆 Selection Process
Eligible applicants will be shortlisted by the Ministry based on academic merit, including degree GPA and academic publications.
The CSC selection process considers:
- Candidate merit, including academic and leadership experience
- Quality of the proposed study plan
- Potential impact of the applicant’s work on the development of Sri Lanka
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Higher Education Division, No. 18, Ward Place, Colombo 07.
🇱🇰 සිංහල සාරාංශය
එක්සත් රාජධානියේ 2027 වසරේ අධ්යයනය සඳහා Commonwealth ශාස්ත්රපති සහ ආචාර්ය උපාධි ශිෂ්යත්ව සඳහා සුදුසුකම් ලත් ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන්ගෙන් අයදුම්පත් කැඳවා ඇත.

🎓 ආචාර්ය උපාධි නාමයෝජනා – 06
ශාස්ත්රපති සඳහා අවම වශයෙන් වසර 4ක උපාධියක් (SLQF 6) සහ First Class හෝ Second Class Upper Division තිබිය යුතුය.
ආචාර්ය උපාධි සඳහා අදාළ ක්ෂේත්රයේ Master's Degree එකක්ද අවශ්ය වේ.

ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் 2027 ஆம் ஆண்டில் உயர் கல்வியைத் தொடர்வதற்கான Commonwealth முதுமாணி மற்றும் கலாநிதி புலமைப்பரிசில்களுக்கு தகுதியான இலங்கையர்களிடமிருந்து விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன.
🎓 முதுமாணி பரிந்துரைகள் – 10
🎓 கலாநிதி பரிந்துரைகள் – 06
முதுமாணி விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் குறைந்தது 4 வருட இளமாணிப் பட்டம் (SLQF 6) மற்றும் First Class அல்லது Second Class Upper Division பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டும்.
கலாநிதி விண்ணப்பதாரர்களுக்கு தொடர்புடைய துறையில் முதுமாணிப் பட்டமும் தேவைப்படுகிறது.
