Admission of Teachers to State Universities
First Degree Programmes (2025/2026)

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has called applications from eligible teachers serving in Government and Government Approved Private Schools for admission to State Universities to follow selected First Degree programmes during the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

Eligible applicants may apply for the Bachelor of Arts (with English as a subject) or Bachelor of Science degree programmes, subject to the prescribed qualifications and conditions. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Available Degree Programmes

Bachelor of Arts Degree (English as a Subject)
Bachelor of Science Degree (Biological Science)
Bachelor of Science Degree (Physical Science)
Bachelor of Science Degree (Applied Science)

Eligibility Requirements

Must be serving in a Government or Government Approved Private School.
Must have passed the relevant General Arts Qualifying (External) or First Examination of the relevant External Degree in 2021 or later.
Must have completed at least five (05) years of confirmed teaching service by the closing date.
Should not be currently registered in a Teachers' Training College, National College of Education, National Institute of Education or a Government University internal degree programme.
Must be eligible for full-time paid study leave.

Selection Process

Selection is based on examination marks and interview marks conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Applications must be submitted in duplicate.
Applications should reach the Director of Education (Human Resource Development Branch), Ministry of Education, Isurupaya, Battaramulla.

Application Information

The Department of Examinations has issued instructions for applicants seeking selection as Chief Marking Examiners for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2026.

All fields marked with an asterisk must be completed. Other fields relevant to the applicant must also be filled in.

Applicants must provide true and accurate information. Applicants submitting false information may be debarred from examination duties.

After completing the online application, click the submit button and download the generated application form in PDF format.

The printed application must be certified by the Head of the Institution and forwarded to the Department of Examinations through the Head of the Institution.

Applicants who have not previously served as evaluation examiners must attach certified copies of the relevant certificates.

Important: Incomplete applications will be rejected.

The Ministry of Education has released the NEMIS Teacher Human Resource Management information of teachers identified as eligible for consideration under the compulsory transfer process connected with the National School Annual Teacher Transfers 2026.

The official document contains information generated through the Teacher Human Resource Management Portal – NEMIS. It displays teachers whose recorded service duration at the listed school is greater than eight years as at 30 June 2026.

Important Clarification

This document provides information on teachers whose recorded duration is greater than eight years. It should not automatically be interpreted as a final transfer order.

The PDF does not mention a new school, transfer destination or effective transfer date. Teachers should follow subsequent official instructions issued by the Ministry of Education concerning corrections, appeals, exemptions and final transfer decisions.
