G.C.E. (A/L) Examination 2026
Application for Answer Script Examiners

Closing Date: 22.06.2026

The Department of Examinations has issued instructions for teachers and eligible applicants to apply as answer script examiners for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2026.

Very Important: All details must be filled accurately. Incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected without prior notice.

Who Can Apply?

  • Government school teachers under the Ministry of Education / Provincial Department of Education.
  • Experienced Teacher Advisors involved in G.C.E. A/L answer script evaluation duties.
  • Applicants must have a degree or diploma training related to the applied subject.
  • Applicants must be teaching G.C.E. A/L Grades 12 and 13 or serving in a related subject area.
  • Private / International school teachers teaching the national curriculum may apply for English medium and English subject categories.

Important Conditions

  • Educational and professional qualifications must be entered correctly.
  • Details under Step 5 must be completed.
  • Applicants with pending disciplinary action or examination duty bans cannot apply.
  • If the applicant or a family member is sitting for the examination, the applicant cannot apply.
  • Applications must be submitted online only.

Evaluation Centres

Proposed evaluation centres include Colombo, Maharagama, Horana, Kalutara, Negombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Badulla, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, Kuliyapitiya, Anuradhapura, Kegalle, Kandy, Batticaloa, Vavuniya and Jaffna.

Evaluation centres will be established only if sufficient applications are received. Applicants must select a second preference also.

Application Process

  • Government school teachers must submit online through the Principal’s attestation.
  • Only new applicants must send a hard copy with qualification certificates.
  • Applicants must download and keep a copy after attestation.
  • Applications must be attested by the relevant Principal / Zonal Director / Divisional Director / Head of Institution.

📌 Examination Purpose

The Department of Official Languages is calling applications for the Official Languages Proficiency Oral Examination. This examination is conducted to assess oral communication skills in Sinhala and Tamil as second languages.

✅ Eligibility

  • Only officers who have passed Sinhala or Tamil as a Second Language at G.C.E. O/L are eligible.
  • The application form must be completed in English.
  • Teachers and Principals can apply according to their relevant level.

💰 Examination Fees

Rs. 2,000

The examination fee should be credited to the following account:

Ministry of Education has issued Circular No. 2006/44(i) regarding the financial incentive for principals and teachers serving in difficult and very difficult schools. According to the circular, the revised monthly allowance will be paid with effect from 01 April 2026.

Who Can Receive This Allowance?

This allowance is for principals and teachers serving in National and Provincial Schools identified as difficult and very difficult schools, subject to Education Circular 01/2024(I) and future amendments.

The revised allowance should be paid from 01 April 2026. School heads, principals and teachers should read the full circular for official details.
