State Children's Art Festival is held annually with a view to develop and evaluate the creative abilities of children representing all the Divisional Secretary's Divisions island wide. This festival enables the children to gain skills to become a creative individual with imaginative thinking.
This festival is organized by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Panel of Visual Arts.
Out of the drawings so received, 150 drawings, as 30 drawings from each category will be selected from each district. The relevant winners will be brought up for the second round.
Competitions in the second round will be conducted with a special workshop at district level. All the winners selected for the second round will be presented with a certificate. Drawings selected from the second round will be presented to the final round of "State Children's Art Festival - 2025" and the winners therein will be presented with the awards, certificates and cash prizes.
Conditions
- Drawings could be on any theme, topic or subject of your choice.
- You could use any medium of your choice for the drawing.
- Each drawing should measure 11.7 x 16.5 inches (A3 paper) or 18x14 inches.
- Each applicant will be entitled to submit only one drawing
- Drawing should be forwarded only from the district of your permanent residence.
- Applicants should get their drawings attested as their own by placing the signature and the official frank of the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, the Higher Priest, the Principal of their school, a Justice of Peace, Head of the Arts Institution (Kalayathana) or the Grama Niladhari of their residential area.
- Duly filled application should be pasted undetached on the reverse of your drawing.
- Any drawing in which the conditions are not fulfilled and the particulars required are not correctly mentioned will be removed from the competition.
- Drawings once sent will not be returned.
- Drawings received will be evaluated by a proficient Panel of Judges. The winners so selected will participate in the relevant district competition and the venue, date and the time will be notified later.
- The decision of the Panel of Judges will be the final.
- Drawings should be sent by registered post or handed over to "Officer in Charge", National Art Gallery, Ananda Coomaraswami Mawatha, Colombo 07. "State Children's Art Festival - 2025", should be clearly written on the top left hand corner of the envelop/ parcel in which you send the drawing.
