About the Recruitment
Applications are invited under the direction of the Public Service Commission to recruit suitable candidates to the post of Statistician, Grade III, in the Executive Service Category of the Department of Census and Statistics.
The recruitment is intended to fill 28 vacancies. Selection will be made through a written competitive examination followed by a general interview for verification of qualifications.
- The appointment is pensionable, subject to applicable government policies.
- Selected officers will be subject to a three-year probationary period.
- The first Efficiency Bar Examination must be passed within three years.
- Required proficiency in the other official language must be obtained within the specified period.
Monthly Salary Scale
Rs. 82,150 – 10 × 2,400 – 8 × 2,940 – 17 × 3,900 – Rs. 195,970 per month.
Required Educational Qualifications
Applicants must possess a recognized degree containing at least one of the following subjects as a major subject:
A recognized Special Degree with First Class, containing at least one of the listed subjects as a major subject.
A recognized General Degree with First Class or Second Class Upper Division, containing at least one of the listed subjects as a major subject.
For a Special Degree, a subject representing at least two-thirds of the relevant total credits may be treated as the major subject. For a General Degree, a subject representing at least one-third of the relevant total credits may be treated as the major subject.
Age and Other Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years of age.
- Eligible date of birth: from 10 August 1991 to 10 August 2005, inclusive.
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants must possess excellent character.
- Applicants must be physically fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- All required qualifications must be completed by the closing date.
Selection Method and Examination
Candidates who pass the written examination will be considered according to merit and the number of vacancies. Selected candidates will be called for a general interview to verify their educational qualifications, eligibility and physical fitness.
Paper 01 – Subject-Related General Knowledge
- Local and international statistics
- Statistics and community development
- New trends related to statistics
- Socioeconomic information
- Environment and society
- Geographical factors and the community
- Information Technology
Paper 02 – Aptitude
This paper will assess management and aptitude skills, including:
- Identifying problems and their causes
- Decision-making ability
- Interpersonal relationships
- Communication skills
- Self-discipline
- Developing policies and strategies
Examination Fee and Medium
- Examination fee: Rs. 1,200.
- The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
- Candidates must answer both papers in the selected language medium.
- The selected examination medium cannot be changed later.

- පළමු පන්ති සාමාර්ථයක් සහිත පිළිගත් විශේෂ උපාධියක්; හෝ
- පළමු පන්ති හෝ දෙවන පන්ති ඉහළ සාමාර්ථයක් සහිත පිළිගත් සාමාන්ය උපාධියක් තිබිය යුතුය.
- වයස අවුරුදු 21ත් 35ත් අතර විය යුතුය.
- ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකු සහ විශිෂ්ට චරිතයකින් යුතු අයකු විය යුතුය.
- අයදුම්පත් භාරගන්නා අවසාන දිනය 2026 අගෝස්තු 10 රාත්රී 9.00 වේ.

புள்ளிவிபரம், கணிதம், பொருளாதாரம், மக்களியல், சனத்தொகை ஆய்வு, கணினி விஞ்ஞானம், தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பம், புவியியல், சமூக விஞ்ஞானம் அல்லது வரைபடவியல் ஆகியவற்றில் குறைந்தது ஒரு பாடம் பிரதான பாடமாக இடம்பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டும்.
- முதலாம் வகுப்பு தரத்துடன் கூடிய அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட சிறப்பு பட்டம்; அல்லது
- முதலாம் வகுப்பு அல்லது இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு உயர் பிரிவு தரத்துடன் கூடிய அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட பொதுப் பட்டம் பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டும்.
- வயது 21 முதல் 35 வரை இருக்க வேண்டும்.
- இலங்கைப் பிரசையாகவும் சிறந்த ஒழுக்கநெறி கொண்டவராகவும் இருக்க வேண்டும்.
- விண்ணப்ப முடிவுத் திகதி 10 ஆகஸ்ட் 2026 இரவு 9.00 மணி.

Notice for Government Officers
