SRI LANKA LAW COLLEGE

SPECIAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

ADMISSION OF STUDENTS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2027

Applications are called for the Sri Lanka Law College Special Competitive Entrance Examination from Graduates who have registered on 30 December 2020 or subsequently for a Law Degree (LL.B) in any foreign university recognized by the Incorporated Council of Legal Education and have completed such degree.

Applications could be forwarded from 09-02-2026 to 06-03-2026.
The Special Entrance Examination will be conducted in June, 2026.


Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for appearing for the Sri Lanka Law College Special Entrance Examination are as follows:

(A) Shall be a citizen of Sri Lanka

AND

(B) Should have completed 17 years of age at the time of forwarding the application

AND

(C) Should have obtained Two Credit Passes and an Ordinary Pass at one and the same sitting in the Sri Lanka General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka OR in the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination of the United Kingdom.
(Please note that the Incorporated Council of Legal Education may also determine other relevant qualifications from time to time)

AND

(D) Should have obtained a Credit Pass for English Language and a Credit Pass for Sinhala or Tamil in the Sri Lanka General Certificate of Education (O/Level) Examination or the National Certificate of General Education Examination or an examination recognized by the Incorporated Council of Legal Education of Sri Lanka as equal to the above examinations.
(Should forward a certified photo copy of the results sheet with the application)

Please note that the Incorporated Council of Legal Education may also determine other relevant qualifications from time to time.

AND

(a) Have obtained a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) from a recognized university in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore or New Zealand.
(Should forward certified photo copies of the results sheet and Degree Certificate with the application)

OR

(b) A Law Degree (LL.B) obtained from a university that falls within the top 100 in the stream of Law in terms of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university ranking or any other ranking recognized by the Council, during any one year of study of such graduate.
(Should forward certified photo copies of the results sheet and Degree Certificate with the application)

AND

(E) In addition to fulfilling the above requirements, the applicant shall forward a certificate issued in the name of the applicant by an authorized authority of the relevant jurisdiction regarding eligibility/permission to practice as a Legal Practitioner within the relevant jurisdiction where the Law Degree was obtained, addressed to:

The Principal,
Sri Lanka Law College,
Colombo 12, Sri Lanka.

This letter should be received prior to issuance of admission cards for the Special Entrance Examination.

The receipt must be handed over with the application. The receipt should clearly indicate the name of the applicant with initials, National Identity Card Number and Telephone Number.


Method of Application

The completed application form, certified copies of Educational Certificates and the payment receipts must be handed over to:

Sectional Head,
Law Entrance Examination Unit,
Sri Lanka Law College,
Colombo – 12

On or before 06-03-2026.
