🚨 Sri Lanka Police Mobile App Introduces SOS Emergency Button
Quickly alert the Police and share your location during an emergency
📱 New SOS Emergency Facility
The Sri Lanka Police has introduced a new mobile application featuring an SOS emergency button designed to help people quickly alert the Police when they are in danger.
According to Police Spokesman F.U. Wootler, users can activate the SOS facility by pressing and holding the button for the required period. The system will then transmit the user’s location to the relevant Police officers in the area.
This facility is intended to provide a faster way of requesting Police assistance than making a conventional telephone call during an emergency.
For example, a child or young person facing an attempted abduction, assault or another threat while returning home from school can use the SOS facility to alert the Police immediately.
⚠️ Do Not Misuse the SOS Button
The SOS button must be used only during a genuine emergency.
Misusing the emergency facility may delay Police assistance to a person facing real danger and could result in legal action.
Police stated that legal action was initiated against 91 people for misusing the 119 Police emergency hotline during 2025.

අවශ්ය කාලය පුරා SOS බොත්තම ඔබාගෙන සිටීමෙන් පරිශීලකයාගේ ස්ථානය අදාළ ප්රදේශයේ පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් වෙත යොමු කෙරේ. ජාතික හැඳුනුම්පත භාවිතයෙන් ලියාපදිංචි විය හැකි අතර, ජාතික හැඳුනුම්පතක් නොමැති දරුවන්ට දෙමාපියෙකුගේ හැඳුනුම්පත් තොරතුරු භාවිත කළ හැකිය. විදේශිකයන්ට විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්රය භාවිතයෙන් ලියාපදිංචි විය හැකිය.
⚠️ SOS බොත්තම සැබෑ හදිසි අවස්ථාවකදී පමණක් භාවිත කරන්න. එය අනිසි ලෙස භාවිත කිරීමෙන් වළකින්න. අනිසි භාවිතයට එරෙහිව නීතිමය පියවර ගත හැකිය.

தேசிய அடையாள அட்டையைப் பயன்படுத்திப் பதிவு செய்யலாம். தேசிய அடையாள அட்டை இல்லாத சிறுவர்கள் பெற்றோரின் அடையாள விவரங்களைப் பயன்படுத்தலாம். வெளிநாட்டவர்கள் கடவுச்சீட்டைப் பயன்படுத்திப் பதிவு செய்யலாம்.
⚠️ SOS பொத்தானை உண்மையான அவசரகால சூழ்நிலையில் மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்தவும். இதனைத் தவறாகப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டாம். தவறாகப் பயன்படுத்துபவர்களுக்கு எதிராக சட்ட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படலாம்.
