Course Introduction
Applications are invited from eligible candidates to enroll in full-time courses conducted at the Industrial Engineering Training Institute (IETI), Moratuwa, a joint project between Sri Lanka and Germany.
These courses are among the leading technical training programmes in Sri Lanka. They are designed to meet local and international employment requirements including Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel and Romania. The programmes include extensive theoretical and practical training.
Successful apprentices will receive:
- Full-Time Course Certificate issued by Industrial Engineering Training Institute
- National Vocational Qualification Certificate – NVQ Level 4 awarded by TVEC
Available Courses, Fees, Duration & Qualifications
01. Electronics Craftsman (Special)
Fee: Rs.150,000Duration: 03 YearsSubjects Include: Basic Workshop Practice, Domestic Electrical Installation, Analogue & Digital Electronics with Applications, Communication Systems, Thyristor Power Control, PLC & Micro Controller Based Control Systems (PIC & ARDUINO), Solar Power Systems & Project Works.
Qualification: Passed 6 subjects including Sinhala Language, Science and Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L with a Credit pass in Mathematics or Science OR passed Engineering Technology or Science for Technology at G.C.E. A/L with at least one pass.
02. Electrician (Special)
Fee: Rs.150,000Duration: 03 YearsSubjects Include: Basic Workshop Practice, Domestic & Industrial Electrical Circuits Installation, Electrical Measuring Instrument, Communication & Security System, Electrical Machine & Motor Control System, Pneumatic & Electro Pneumatic Control System, Mechatronics Systems, Electrical Technology & Electrical Mathematics.
Qualification: Same entry requirements as Courses 01–05.
03. Construction Supervisor
Fee: Rs.100,000Duration: 01½ YearsSubjects Include: Construction Management, Basic Workshop Practice, Basics in Construction Technology, Engineering & Architectural Drawings and AutoCAD, Construction Materials, Surveying and Levelling, Water Supply, Drainage and Sewerage Systems, Road Construction, Quantity Surveying & Cost Estimates.
Qualification: Same entry requirements as Courses 01–05.
04. Quantity Surveying Assistant
Fee: Rs.50,000Duration: 01 YearSubjects Include: Preparation of BOQ for Small and Medium Construction, Pricing of BOQ, Prepare Bidding Document.
Qualification: Same entry requirements as Courses 01–05.
05. Draughtsperson
Fee: Rs.80,000Duration: 01½ YearsSubjects Include: Building Construction, Building Services, Mathematics, Geometrical and Mechanical Drawings, Surveying & Levelling, AutoCAD, Electrical and Plumbing Drawings, Drawing Office Activities, Building Services Drawings.
Qualification: Same entry requirements as Courses 01–05.
06. Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician
Fee: Rs.100,000Duration: 02 YearsSubjects Include: Basic Workshop Practice, All Type of Refrigeration, Domestic & Industrial Air Conditioning System, Refrigeration Recovery & Recycling Methods, Industrial Motor Control, Tinkering, Arc and Gas Welding Technique.
Qualification: Passed 6 subjects including Sinhala Language and Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L.
07. Machinist (Special)
Fee: Rs.150,000Duration: 03 YearsSubjects Include: Lathe, Milling, Grinding Machine Operation, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems, Heat Treatment, CNC Programming, CNC Machining, EDM Process, Wire Cutting Process, LASER Cutting, Solid Works, AutoCAD.
Qualification: Passed 6 subjects including Sinhala Language and Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L.
08. Information & Communication Technology Technician
Fee: Rs.40,000Duration: 01 YearSubjects Include: Maintaining Files & Folders, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Cloud Computing, Internet and Email Services, Database Manipulation, Computer Systems, Network and Peripherals, Print Page Layout, Multimedia Objects, Systems Analysis and Designing, Relational Databases Using SQL, Static Website Designing, Desktop Application Development.
Qualification: Passed 6 subjects including Sinhala Language and Mathematics at G.C.E. O/L, passed English Language at G.C.E. O/L or A/L, and completed a basic computer course.
09. Computer Graphic Designer
Fee: Rs.40,000Duration: 01 YearSubjects Include: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Printing & Scanning Method, Computer Hardware & Software, Colour Theory & Input Images, Visual Media Technology Fundamentals, Typography, Edit & Manipulate Images, Illustrations, Layout Designing, Web and Multimedia Layout Designing.
Qualification: Same entry requirements as Courses 08–09.
10. Welder (Special)
Fee: Rs.150,000Duration: 03 YearsSubjects Include: MMA, GAS, TIG, MIG, MAG, FCAW, PLASMA, SPOT, STUD Welding Work, Destructive & Non-Destructive Testing Methods, Plate & Pipe Weld.
Qualification: Studied at least up to G.C.E. O/L level.
11. Wood Craftsman / Carpenter (Furniture and Building)
Fee: Rs.20,000Duration: 02 YearsSubjects Include: Use Hand Tools, Basic Wood Fitting, Safe Use of Modern Machinery, Manufacture Furniture from Wood and Composite Wood, Sharpen and Maintain Hand Tools and Machine Blades, Polish Furniture, Wood Technology, Mechanical Drawing, Industrial Mathematics, Construct Roofs and Ceilings, Make Door Frames, Doors and Windows, Lay Wooden Stair Treads, Construct Partitions, Make Shuttering.
Qualification: Studied at least up to G.C.E. O/L level.
12. Multi Skilled Technician
Fee: Rs.40,000Duration: 01½ YearsSubjects Include: Masonry Works, Plumbing Works, Carpentry Works, Electrical Works, Maintenance of Air Conditioning, Basic Aluminum Fabrication Works, Workplace Communication, Occupational Literacy, Occupational Health and Safety.
Qualification: Studied at least up to G.C.E. O/L level.
13. Plumber
Fee: Rs.60,000Duration: 02 YearsSubjects Include: Connect PVC, CPVC, GI, PB, PPR Pipes used in Construction Industry, Install Modern Sanitary Equipment, Install Water Pumps, Install Hot Water Systems, Create and Figure Out Plans, Make Estimates.
Qualification: Studied at least up to Grade 08.
Important Notices
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age as at 30.06.2026.
- Course Fees: Course fees may be paid in installments.
- Medium: All courses are conducted in both Sinhala and English Medium.
- Training System: First half is Institutional Training and second half is On-The-Job Training in government or recognized private factories.
- Selection Method: Selection will be based on a Written Test and Formal Interview.
- Deadline: Applications must be received before 30.04.2026.
- Applicants must indicate three preferred courses in order of priority according to educational qualifications.
- The institute will not be responsible for applications lost or delayed in the mail.
