Senior Lecturer Grade I Faculty of Industrial Technology – Agriculture and Food Technology.

Academic Vacancies

Academic vacancies are available in the Faculty of Industrial Technology, under the Department of Agriculture and Food Technology.

Relevant Fields:
Food Product and Process Technology, Food Engineering, Food Safety, Food Physics and Food Chemistry.

Preferred Academic Background

• B.Sc. or B.Tech. Degree in Food Technology.
• B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture with specialization in Food Technology.
• Honours or four-year degree in an allied science field.
• MSc, MPhil or PhD qualification in a relevant field.
• Teaching, research or food-industry experience will be an advantage.

Senior Lecturer Grade I

Applicants should satisfy the academic requirements applicable to a Lecturer – Probationary and possess the required Master's Degree, Doctoral Degree or approved professional qualification.

A minimum of twelve years of relevant experience is required. At least six years of that experience should have been obtained after acquiring the relevant postgraduate or professional qualification.

Senior Lecturer Grade II

Applicants should possess the required Lecturer – Probationary academic qualifications together with an accepted Master's Degree, Doctoral Degree or approved professional qualification.

At least six years of university teaching, professional, research or postgraduate experience is required.

Lecturer – Unconfirmed

Applicants should possess the required academic and postgraduate qualifications and should have completed at least three years of satisfactory service in the university.

Lecturer – Probationary

Applicants should possess a relevant specialized degree with First Class or Second Class Upper Division Honours.

Candidates with Second Class Lower Division Honours, postgraduate qualifications or recognized professional qualifications may also be considered according to the experience requirements stated in the official advertisement.

Academic Salary Scales

Senior Lecturer Grade I Salary Code: U-AC3(I) Rs. 160,520 – 7 × 3,900 – Rs. 187,820 per month Academic and other approved allowances will be paid.

Senior Lecturer Grade II Salary Code: U-AC3(II) Rs. 138,980 – 11 × 2,940 – Rs. 171,320 per month Academic and other approved allowances will be paid.

Lecturer – Unconfirmed Salary Code: U-AC3(III) Rs. 121,340 – 5 × 2,940 – Rs. 136,040 per month Academic and other approved allowances will be paid.

Lecturer – Probationary Salary Code: U-AC3(VI) Rs. 94,400 – 10 × 2,400 – Rs. 118,400 per month Academic and other approved allowances will be paid.

Age Limit for Academic Posts: Generally, applicants should be between 22 and 60 years of age unless otherwise stated.

Assistant Librarian Vacancy

External Applicants

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree and at least one year of experience in library work, research, professional work in a recognized establishment or postgraduate studies at a recognized university or higher educational institution.

Internal Applicants

Internal applicants should have completed at least five years of satisfactory service in the relevant field in a Grade I post of the Management Assistant category.

Permanent Appointment Age: 22–45 Salary Code: U-EX 1-2025

Selection will be made through a written competitive examination and/or structured interview. The upper age limit does not apply to eligible internal candidates.

Programme Officer Vacancy

Applicants should possess a degree awarded by a university or higher educational institution established by an Act of Parliament of Sri Lanka or recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

Permanent Appointment Age: 22–45 Salary Code: U-MN 2-2025

Selection will be made through a written competitive examination and/or structured interview.

Management Assistant – Non-Technological

Qualifications for External Applicants

• Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting.
• Obtained credit passes for four subjects, including Sinhala or Tamil, English Language and Mathematics.
• Passed three subjects other than the General Paper at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.

Qualifications for Internal Applicants

• A confirmed employee who has completed at least five years of satisfactory service in an eligible permanent post at the university.
• Passed at least six G.C.E. Ordinary Level subjects, including Sinhala or Tamil, English Language or Literature and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

Permanent Appointment Age: 18–45 Salary Code: U-MN 1-2025

Selection will be made through a written competitive examination and/or structured interview. The upper age limit does not apply to eligible internal candidates.
