Competitive Entrance Examination

Applications are called online for the admission of students to the Academic Year 2027 from applicants who are eligible for the Sri Lanka Law College Competitive Entrance Examination.

Eligibility Requirements

Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
Should have completed 17 years of age at the time of forwarding the application.
Should have obtained Two Credit Passes and one Ordinary Pass at one sitting in the GCE A/L Examination conducted by Sri Lanka or the United Kingdom.

Should have obtained a Credit Pass in English and a Credit Pass in Sinhala or Tamil in the GCE O/L Examination of Sri Lanka / National General Certificate / GCE O/L of the United Kingdom.
If applying with equivalent qualifications, applicants should inquire through 070-6759892 before submitting the application and obtain permission from Sri Lanka Law College.

Entrance Examination

All applicants shall appear for the Entrance Examination. Applicants who receive less than 40% marks in one or more question papers will not be eligible for entrance.

1. General Knowledge

Duration: 1 Hour

Pass Marks: 40

Questions: 50 Multiple Choice Questions

2. General Intelligence

Duration: 1 Hour

Pass Marks: 40

Questions: 50 Multiple Choice Questions

3. Proficiency in English Language

Duration: 1½ Hours

Pass Marks: 40

4. Proficiency in Sinhala or Tamil Language

Duration: 1½ Hours

Pass Marks: 40

Terminology / Vocabulary
Grammar / Compound Words / Antonyms
Comprehension / Passage Related Questions

Applicants may answer the General Knowledge and General Intelligence question papers in Sinhala, Tamil or English.

For selection on merit, only the marks obtained for General Knowledge and General Intelligence will be considered.

The medium of language indicated in the application cannot be changed for any reason.

Sri Lanka Law College Special Entrance Examination 2027 – Admission of Students

SRI LANKA LAW COLLEGE

SPECIAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

ADMISSION OF STUDENTS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2027

Applications are called for the Sri Lanka Law College Special Competitive Entrance Examination from Graduates who have registered on 30 December 2020 or subsequently for a Law Degree (LL.B) in any foreign university recognized by the Incorporated Council of Legal Education and have completed such degree.

Applications could be forwarded from 09-02-2026 to 06-03-2026.

The Special Entrance Examination will be conducted in June, 2026.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for appearing for the Sri Lanka Law College Special Entrance Examination are as follows:

(A) Shall be a citizen of Sri Lanka

AND

(B) Should have completed 17 years of age at the time of forwarding the application

AND

(C) Should have obtained Two Credit Passes and an Ordinary Pass at one and the same sitting in the Sri Lanka General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka OR in the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination of the United Kingdom.

(Please note that the Incorporated Council of Legal Education may also determine other relevant qualifications from time to time)

AND

(D) Should have obtained a Credit Pass for English Language and a Credit Pass for Sinhala or Tamil in the Sri Lanka General Certificate of Education (O/Level) Examination or the National Certificate of General Education Examination or an examination recognized by the Incorporated Council of Legal Education of Sri Lanka as equal to the above examinations.

(Should forward a certified photo copy of the results sheet with the application)

Please note that the Incorporated Council of Legal Education may also determine other relevant qualifications from time to time.

AND

(a) Have obtained a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) from a recognized university in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore or New Zealand.

(Should forward certified photo copies of the results sheet and Degree Certificate with the application)

(b) A Law Degree (LL.B) obtained from a university that falls within the top 100 in the stream of Law in terms of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university ranking or any other ranking recognized by the Council, during any one year of study of such graduate.

(Should forward certified photo copies of the results sheet and Degree Certificate with the application)

AND

(E) In addition to fulfilling the above requirements, the applicant shall forward a certificate issued in the name of the applicant by an authorized authority of the relevant jurisdiction regarding eligibility/permission to practice as a Legal Practitioner within the relevant jurisdiction where the Law Degree was obtained, addressed to:

This letter should be received prior to issuance of admission cards for the Special Entrance Examination.
