University Grants Commission has released a commission circular on supervision of Student - organized university Events.
Circular No - 02 / 2026
Circular Date - 06.02.2026
Circular emphasized that, all student-organized university events be conducted under the supervision of a responsible university officer until further notice. Please ensure that a staff member or a responsible university official is present at all times during rehearsals and preparations (including setting up decorations), during the event itself, and after the event until all students have dispersed. Events that do not comply with the above directive should not be held under any circumstances."
The Department of Examinations has released a special announcement regarding the postponement of the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Government Librarians’ Service – 2025 (2026).
The above examination, which was scheduled to be held on 21 February 2026, has been postponed until further notice at the request of the Director General of Combined Services.

Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Superintendent of Audit in Grade II of Class II in Sri Lanka State Audit Service - 2024 (2025) : 2024
The applications are invited from the officers who became eligible on seniority basis to fill the vacancies existing for the posts in the Special Grade of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service approved as at 01.07.2025/01.01.2026 as per the provisions stipulated by the Section 10.3 in the Service Minute of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service published in the Extra- ordinary Gazette No. 1928/28 dated 21.08.2015 and by the 3rd amendment of the Service Minute published in the Extra-ordinary Gazette No. 2159/11 dated 21.01.2020. The closing date of applications shall be 04.03.2026.
Applications will be received for the registration of applicants who have fulfilled required qualifications to follow the Second Language Tamil Diploma Course organised by the National Institute of Language Education & Training.
Through this Course, it is expected to provide a Theoretical Knowledge and Practical Training on the Tamil language and this will be accepted as an additional qualification to enter the Teacher Training Course on the Teaching of Second Languages conducted by the National Institute of Language Education & Training.
Course Duration
The period will be 01 Academic Year. Course will be conducted on weekend - Saturdays / Sundays between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. and also will be conducted through 70% Physically and 30% onsite & online method.

Registration Fee : Rs. 3,500.00
Course Fee: Rs . 45,000.00 ( This can be paid in Three instalments).
Minimum qualifications for applying -
Should be a Sri Lankan citizen above 18 years.
Passed G.C.E. (O/Level) and G.C.E. (A/Level) Examinations.

The Course is expected to be commenced in first week of May, 2026 and should pass the interview conducted by the National Institute of Language Education & Training, to be selected.

All-Island Tamil Language Day Competitions – 2026–2030
Circular No. 01/2026 is being issued for the conduct of the All-Island Tamil Language Day Competitions from the year 2026 to 2030. According to this circular, which comes into effect from 02.02.2026, Tamil Language Day competitions must be conducted at all levels, ranging from the school level to the national level.
This circular, effective from the year 2026, will remain in force for the next five years. All contestants and other participants are bound to follow all the terms, conditions, and rules specified in this circular at every stage of the competition.

The G.C.E. (O/L) Examination 2025 (2026) is scheduled to be held islandwide from 17.02.2026 to 26.02.2026 at 3,545 examination centres.
In terms of the Public Examinations Act No. 25 of 1968 and the Gazette Notification No. 1816 dated 21.06.2013 issued under Section 22 of the Act, all activities such as
conducting or organizing private tuition classes for examination candidates
holding lectures, seminars or workshops related to the examination,
printing or distributing predicted question papers, and publishing or possessing examination questions or similar questions through printed, electronic or other media
are strictly prohibited from 12.00 midnight on 11.02.2026 until the conclusion of the examination. Any individual, institution or group acting in violation of this order will be deemed to have committed an offence under the law, and complaints regarding such violations may be made to the nearest police station, the Police Headquarters or the Department of Examinations.
