The above research project is implemented by a research team attached to the Department of
Education, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. The project is funded by the
Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation of the
Ministry of Higher Education and the World Bank. The research team is looking to recruit a
research assistant who will read for the MPhil degree in Education (with a focus on
Mathematics Education) while working with the coordinator and the research team in
undertaking research activities ensuring timely and quality outputs.
Qualifications and other requirements
- A first degree in natural sciences (with Mathematics as a subject) obtained from a recognized university.
- Master of Education or equivalent degree obtained from a recognized university
- At least 3 years of experience in teaching Mathematics in a government school
- Good communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil, interpersonal skills, multitasking skills and ability to work under pressure
- Selected candidate should be able to work collaboratively with the research team under the direct supervision of the coordinator.
- Should be able to work fulltime as a research student for a period of two years starting from September 2019 and be entitled to full paid study leave for a two-year period.
- Selected candidate should get registered for the MPhil in Education degree offered by the Postgraduate Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (PGIHS), University of Peradeniya.
