Regional Manager, Shop-in-Charge Officer, Senior Sales Assistant and Sales Assistant positions
Lanka Sathosa Limited invites applications from qualified, experienced and capable Sri Lankan citizens for the following positions. Selected applicants should be prepared to serve in Lanka Sathosa outlets and regions located throughout the island.
The appointments are permanent and include entitlement to Employees’ Provident Fund and Employees’ Trust Fund benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish regional sales targets, supervise sales activities and implement strategies to increase sales, income and profitability.
- Ensure that regional operations comply with corporate policies, regulatory requirements and cost-control procedures.
- Supervise shop managers and outlet teams while promoting excellent customer service and continuous staff development.
- Monitor budgets, control operational expenses and use available resources effectively.
- Resolve customer-related issues and maintain high customer-service standards throughout the assigned region.
- Support business development, improve outlet performance and contribute to increasing Lanka Sathosa’s market share.
Qualifications for External Applicants
- A first degree recognized by the University Grants Commission in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Economics, Commerce or a relevant field;
- Or completion of the intermediate level of a recognized professional or chartered institution in a relevant field.
Qualifications for Internal Applicants
- Possession of the qualifications required for external applicants;
- Or five years of satisfactory service in a relevant MA-4 or MA-3 category position;
- Or five years of satisfactory service in a relevant Grade II position under the MA 1-2 category.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for achieving outlet sales targets, profitability objectives, operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the responsible custodian of the stock assigned to the outlet.
- Ensure proper ordering, receiving, storage, display and issuing of products according to FIFO procedures.
- Minimise stock shortages, damages, wastage and expired stock.
- Maintain smooth daily operations and a clean, organised and customer-friendly outlet.
- Safeguard company assets, manage cash operations and ensure accurate reporting.
- Supervise, train and develop employees while maintaining discipline and productivity.
Qualifications for External Applicants
- A first degree recognized by the University Grants Commission in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Commerce or another relevant field;
- Or completion of the intermediate examination of a recognized professional or chartered institution in a relevant field.
Qualifications for Internal Applicants
- Possession of the qualifications required for external applicants;
- Or three years of satisfactory service as an Assistant Shop Manager or Assistant Shop-in-Charge Officer in the MA-3 category;
- Or ten years of satisfactory service as a Senior Sales Assistant in the MA 1-2 category.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the outlet head in achieving sales targets, profitability, service excellence and smooth outlet operations.
- Carry out assigned stock-management responsibilities, including receiving, storing and displaying goods.
- Apply FIFO procedures and monitor stock accuracy, damages and expiry dates.
- Assist with billing, cash reconciliation, security controls and compliance with financial procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and customer-friendly outlet environment.
- Assist in supervising junior employees, coordinating shifts and maintaining discipline.
Qualifications for External Applicants
- Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting;
- Credit passes in four subjects, including Sinhala or Tamil and Mathematics;
- Passed three subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, excluding the General Test.
Qualifications for Internal Applicants
- Possession of the qualifications required for external applicants;
- Or the required Ordinary Level qualifications together with at least five years of satisfactory permanent service in the primary-level employee category.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily outlet activities, including product display, shelf replenishment, cleaning and organisation.
- Perform billing, collect payments, issue balances and handle cash accurately and securely.
- Assist customers with product selection and purchasing.
- Receive, arrange and transfer goods according to FIFO procedures.
- Report damaged and expired products to the relevant supervisors.
- Maintain punctuality, teamwork, discipline and compliance with safety and operational procedures.
Qualifications for External Applicants
- Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, including Mathematics, English and the first language;
- Or an NVQ Level 2 or higher qualification relevant to the post, obtained from a technical or vocational institution recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.
Qualifications for Internal Applicants
- Possession of the qualifications required for external applicants;
- Or relevant service experience and successful completion of the practical competency requirements stated in the official notice.
- Previous experience in the relevant field, particularly retail sales, will be preferred.
- Experience in a government or state-owned institution will be an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Information Technology literacy.
- Ability to lead and guide employees from different backgrounds.
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the relevant position.
- Applicants must possess an excellent moral character.
