Applications are invited from suitably qualified eminent persons for the post of Director, Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM), Diyagama, Homagama. Candidates from within or outside the university system may apply, subject to University Grants Commission Circular No. 01/2024 dated 01 January 2024.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Eminent persons in the university system or outside it are eligible to apply.
The applicant must be less than 63 years of age as at the closing date.
Selection will be conducted according to UGC Circular No. 01/2024.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director is a full-time officer and serves as the Institute’s Principal Executive Officer, Principal Academic Officer and Accounting Officer. The appointee is also an ex-officio member of the Board of Management and Board of Study.

Provide academic and administrative leadership.
Maintain discipline within the Institute.
Implement decisions of the Board of Management.
Coordinate with relevant ministries, the UGC and higher educational institutions.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Scale: U-AC 5 (II) – Rs. 198,280 – 13 × 4,850 – Rs. 261,330 per month.
Official transport and entertainment allowance.
Provident Fund: 15% employer contribution and 10% employee contribution.
Employees’ Trust Fund: 3% employer contribution.
If a retired professor is appointed, the salary and allowances applicable to the post will be paid.

A statement of vision for the Institute’s development and a brief account of what the applicant proposes to achieve if appointed.
If the incumbent Director applies, or the applicant previously held the post, a report on achievements during the first term.
Applicants serving in the Public Sector, Corporations, Statutory Bodies or Higher Educational Institutions must include an employer’s letter confirming whether they can be released if appointed.

Applicants must satisfy one of the following routes in the relevant subject:

A specialized degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours; or
A specialized degree with Second Class (Lower Division) Honours plus at least one year of relevant teaching, research, professional work or postgraduate study; or
A relevant non-honours degree/general degree with at least Second Class Honours, plus a postgraduate degree of at least two academic years with a thesis/dissertation; or
A relevant degree or recognized professional qualification, plus a one-year relevant master’s/equivalent further professional qualification, and five years of applicable professional experience (external applicants) or teaching/library experience in a recognized higher educational institution (internal applicants); or
A relevant degree/equivalent recognized professional qualification plus eight years of professional and/or teaching experience.

Senior Lecturer Grade II – Key Requirements

Candidates must first possess the academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary). They must also have an accepted research-based master’s/doctoral qualification or an approved equivalent professional qualification, as specified in the official advertisement.

In addition, at least six years of experience is required in one or more of the following:

University or higher-education teaching
Professional work in a recognized mercantile establishment
Research relevant to the field of specialization
Postgraduate studies

தேசிய வீடமைப்பு அபிவிருத்தி அதிகாரசபையில் நிரந்தர அடிப்படையில் காணப்படும் 23 பதவி வெற்றிடங்களுக்கு தகுதியான இலங்கைப் பிரஜைகளிடமிருந்து விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன. பொறியியல், கட்டிடக்கலை, திட்டமிடல், கணக்கியல், அளவையியல் மற்றும் முகாமைத்துவப் பதவிகள் இதில் உள்ளடங்குகின்றன.

General Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.
Applicants must be prepared to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
Applicants must possess an excellent moral character.
Educational, professional and experience requirements differ according to each post.
Government and public-sector employees must forward applications through the Head of their institution.

Age Limits

HM 1-3 and HM 1-1 posts: Applicants must be between 35 and 55 years of age.
MM 1-1 and JM 1-1 posts: Applicants must be between 22 and 45 years of age.
The stated age limits do not apply to eligible internal applicants serving in government, state corporations, boards or statutory institutions.
