General Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.

Age Limits

Required Qualifications

BSc Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience in large-scale onshore and offshore petroleum pipeline projects.
Strong practical knowledge of FIDIC Silver Book or similar EPC/EPCC contract conditions.
Familiarity with ASME, API, ASTM and other relevant pipeline standards.
Project planning and control experience using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
Sound understanding of HSE and QA/QC management systems.

Added Advantages

Corporate or Chartered Engineer status such as CEng or IESL.
Project Management Professional certification or an equivalent qualification.
Postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Pipeline Engineering or Offshore Engineering.

Contract Periods for Engineering Assistants

The appointment period will depend on the relevant project: 22 months for the 6-Tanks Project, 14 months for KHPP, or 19 months for the 3-Tanks Project. Renewal will depend on project requirements and satisfactory performance.

Important Service Conditions

The maximum age limit is 65 years as at the application closing date.
The company will contribute 15% of the salary to EPF, while the employee must contribute 10%.
The company will contribute 3% of the salary to ETF.
All required qualifications must be completed by the closing date.

A selection test may be conducted if required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research, experimental development and technological services according to client requirements and institutional priorities.
Participate in technology transfer, sourcing, adaptation, adoption and transfer of suitable technologies to local industries.
Analyse patents, intellectual property documents and relevant techno-legal or business information.
Issue reports and certificates efficiently and effectively.
Maintain and calibrate instruments and retain the required records and documentation.
Use the Institute’s ERP system and other ICT tools effectively.
Prepare and deliver internal seminars and participate in relevant training programmes.
Prepare multidisciplinary proposals for external funding in identified priority areas.
Provide training, advice and assistance to team members, subordinates and students.
Support supervisors and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Perform other duties assigned by the Section Head, Additional Director General or Director General.

Salary and Benefits

The AR 1-II salary scale effective from 1 January 2027 is:

Rs. 91,650 – 102,480 – 15 × 3,450 – Rs. 168,200

Performance-based incentives may be available.
A contributory medical insurance scheme may be provided.
Employees contribute 10% of gross salary to the Provident Fund.
ITI contributes 15% of gross salary to the Provident Fund.

Passed G.C.E. A/L with credit passes in relevant subjects or equivalent
Minimum 5 years’ experience in project or construction environments
Proficiency in MS Office and document management tools
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong filing, coordination, time management and reporting skills

QA/QC Inspector

Salary: Rs. 185,895 + Rs. 5,250 + Variable Allowances

Key Qualifications

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with welding inspection certification such as CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI and 5 years’ relevant experience
Or NVQ Level 4 / equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years’ CPC/CPSTL inspection experience
NDT qualifications with RT Level II and at least UT/PT Level I
Knowledge of API 650 tank inspection, fabrication, erection and testing
Proficiency in MS Office and basic AutoCAD

Common Instructions

Appointment will be on contract basis for 14 months, subject to renewal based on project requirement and performance.
Maximum age limit is 65 years as at the closing date of application.
Company contribution: 15% EPF and 3% ETF. Employee contribution: 10% EPF.
Required qualifications must be completed by the closing date.
Only shortlisted applicants may be called.
A selection test may be held if required.
