01. Registrar

Key qualifications

Applicants must satisfy one of the qualification and experience routes stated in the official notice. These include a First or Second Class Degree together with a PhD or Master's qualification in Administration/Management and the required administrative experience, or the specified senior university-system service qualifications. Eligible Attorneys-at-Law and confirmed Deputy Registrars may also apply under the categories described in the notice.

Salary Scale: U-EX 3(I) - Rs. 181,730 to Rs. 246,780 per month, plus approved university allowances.

02. Bursar

Key qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the seven routes in the official advertisement. The routes cover CASL membership or an equivalent qualification with relevant executive-level accounting/auditing experience, specified senior university-system finance posts and qualifications, or the stated Sri Lanka Accountants' Service eligibility.

Salary Scale: U-EX 3(II) - Rs. 166,130 to Rs. 246,780 per month, plus approved university allowances.

03. Curator (Landscape), Grade III

Key qualifications

  • Four-year Special Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Agriculture or Agricultural Technology & Management, majoring in Crop Science/Horticulture/Floriculture/Forestry, with at least one year of relevant supervisory experience; or
  • Four-year Special Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Landscape Architecture with at least one year of relevant supervisory experience; or
  • Four-year Special Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Botany with at least two years of relevant supervisory experience.
Salary Scale: U-EX 1(II) - Rs. 85,305 to Rs. 122,565 per month, plus approved university allowances.

04. Workshop Engineer, Grade III

Key qualifications

  • B.Sc. Engineering Degree specializing in Mechanical/Production Engineering from a recognized University/HEI; or
  • National Diploma in Technology specializing in Mechanical/Production Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, with at least seven years of experience in a mechanical workshop of a recognized establishment.

Note: In-plant training is not counted as experience.

Salary Scale: U-EX 1(II) - Rs. 85,305 to Rs. 122,565 per month, plus approved university allowances.

Application Instructions

  • Use the prescribed application form and attach copies of all relevant certificates.
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500 to Account No. 228-1001-9000-1704, People's Bank, Addaichenai, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Collection Account, and attach the receipt.
  • Send the completed application by registered post to reach the relevant addressee on or before 30 September 2026.
  • Write the name of the post on the top-left corner of the envelope.
  • Applicants already serving in the specified public/university institutions must apply through the Head of Institution.
  • For Curator (Landscape) and Workshop Engineer, applicants should be not more than 45 years old. The exemptions stated in the notice apply.

  • தேவையான பட்டம், தொழில்சார் தகைமை மற்றும் அனுபவம் பதவிக்கேற்ப வேறுபடும். உத்தியோகபூர்வ அறிவித்தலை கட்டாயம் வாசிக்கவும்.
  • விண்ணப்பக் கட்டணம்: ரூ. 500 (மீளளிக்கப்படாது). கட்டணப் பற்றுச்சீட்டை விண்ணப்பத்துடன் இணைக்கவும்.

The University of Ruhuna invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Registrar.

Main Qualification Categories
Category A

A First or Second Class Degree, a PhD-level postgraduate degree in Administration or Management and at least 10 years of relevant administrative experience after obtaining the first degree.

Category B

A First or Second Class Degree, a Master’s Degree of at least two years in Administration or Management and at least 12 years of relevant administrative experience.

Categories C to E

Applicants serving as Deputy Secretary or Deputy Registrar may qualify under the specified degree, postgraduate, legal and administrative experience requirements stated in the official advertisement.

Category F

A confirmed Deputy Secretary or Deputy Registrar who is a graduate and possesses the required 18 years of university-sector administrative experience may also be eligible.

Administrative Experience

Relevant administrative experience generally refers to experience obtained after the first degree in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service or in a comparable post in a state or private-sector organisation.

Human Resource Management experience may be considered.
General Administration experience may be considered.
Overall Management experience may be considered.
Experience limited to specialised technical fields such as finance or engineering is not treated as administrative experience for this purpose.
Salary and Benefits
Salary scale: U-EX 3 (I) – Rs. 181,730 to Rs. 246,780 per month.
Government-approved allowances applicable to the university system will be paid.
The selected officer will be entitled to an assigned vehicle and the approved fuel allowance, subject to the applicable circular.
Eligibility for sabbatical leave will be determined according to the applicable university provisions.
Provident Fund, Pension Scheme, Employees’ Trust Fund and gratuity benefits will apply according to the relevant regulations.
Method of Selection
Candidates will be selected through a structured interview.
Applicants who obtain 40% or more at the structured interview will be eligible to be considered for selection.
The University reserves the right to shortlist applicants.
