The University of Ruhuna invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Registrar.

This is a senior administrative position in the university system. Applicants should carefully check the required academic qualifications, postgraduate qualifications and administrative experience before applying.

Main Qualification Categories
Category A

A First or Second Class Degree, a PhD-level postgraduate degree in Administration or Management and at least 10 years of relevant administrative experience after obtaining the first degree.

Category B

A First or Second Class Degree, a Master’s Degree of at least two years in Administration or Management and at least 12 years of relevant administrative experience.

Categories C to E

Applicants serving as Deputy Secretary or Deputy Registrar may qualify under the specified degree, postgraduate, legal and administrative experience requirements stated in the official advertisement.

Category F

A confirmed Deputy Secretary or Deputy Registrar who is a graduate and possesses the required 18 years of university-sector administrative experience may also be eligible.

Administrative Experience

Relevant administrative experience generally refers to experience obtained after the first degree in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service or in a comparable post in a state or private-sector organisation.

Human Resource Management experience may be considered.
General Administration experience may be considered.
Overall Management experience may be considered.
Experience limited to specialised technical fields such as finance or engineering is not treated as administrative experience for this purpose.
Salary and Benefits
Salary scale: U-EX 3 (I) – Rs. 181,730 to Rs. 246,780 per month.
Government-approved allowances applicable to the university system will be paid.
The selected officer will be entitled to an assigned vehicle and the approved fuel allowance, subject to the applicable circular.
Eligibility for sabbatical leave will be determined according to the applicable university provisions.
Provident Fund, Pension Scheme, Employees’ Trust Fund and gratuity benefits will apply according to the relevant regulations.
Method of Selection
Candidates will be selected through a structured interview.
Applicants who obtain 40% or more at the structured interview will be eligible to be considered for selection.
The University reserves the right to shortlist applicants.
