Educational Qualifications
Should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in
six subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more
than two sittings.
Should possess a certificate for not less than 1,000 Horse
Power or 750 KW issued by the Director General of Merchant
Shipping of Sri Lanka under the 1907 Launch Ordinance.
Should possess a National Certificate of Technology in the
Mechanical or Shipping sector.
Alternatively, applicants may possess a relevant three-year
full-time certificate issued by a government, industrial or
vocational training institution recognized by the Tertiary
and Vocational Education Commission.
A relevant NVQ Level 4 certificate or an equivalent accepted
qualification may also be considered.
Required Experience
Applicants should possess three years of experience as an
Assistant Head Driver (Dredger).
The experience should have been obtained in a government
institution or a recognized private institution in a similar
position.
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Good knowledge of equipment used in tugs or dredgers and
their repairs.
Knowledge of standard nautical knots, mooring procedures and
boating skills.
Applicants must successfully complete the required training
courses within one year after recruitment.

Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the
duties of the post and serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
Applicants should possess an excellent character.
Selected applicants may be required to pass a medical
examination.
This is a permanent post carrying Employees’ Provident Fund
and Employees’ Trust Fund benefits.
The age limit will not apply to applicants currently serving
in the government service.
Government and state corporation employees should forward
their applications through the respective Heads of
Departments or Corporations.
