About the Industrial Technology Institute
The Industrial Technology Institute, known as ITI, is the successor to the Ceylon Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research.
It is a multidisciplinary research institute dedicated to promoting industrial development through research and development, consultancy, contract services, training and technical services.

Suitable for candidates possessing recognised science degrees and relevant postgraduate research qualifications, subject to the qualification categories stated below.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research, experimental development and technological services according to client requirements and institutional priorities.
- Participate in technology transfer, sourcing, adaptation, adoption and transfer of suitable technologies to local industries.
- Analyse patents, intellectual property documents and relevant techno-legal or business information.
- Issue reports and certificates efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain and calibrate instruments and retain the required records and documentation.
- Use the Institute’s ERP system and other ICT tools effectively.
- Prepare and deliver internal seminars and participate in relevant training programmes.
- Prepare multidisciplinary proposals for external funding in identified priority areas.
- Provide training, advice and assistance to team members, subordinates and students.
- Support supervisors and work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Section Head, Additional Director General or Director General.
Age Limit
The upper age limit does not apply to employees of government departments and corporations.
Salary and Benefits
The AR 1-II salary scale effective from 1 January 2027 is:
Rs. 91,650 – 102,480 – 15 × 3,450 – Rs. 168,200
- Performance-based incentives may be available.
- A contributory medical insurance scheme may be provided.
- Employees contribute 10% of gross salary to the Provident Fund.
- ITI contributes 15% of gross salary to the Provident Fund.
- ITI contributes an additional 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund.
