State Children’s Art Competition 2025

State Children’s Art Competition 2025



State Children's Art Festival is held annually with a view to develop and evaluate the creative abilities of children representing all the Divisional Secretary's Divisions island wide. This festival enables the children to gain skills to become a creative individual with imaginative thinking.

This festival is organized by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Panel of Visual Arts.

Out of the drawings so received, 150 drawings, as 30 drawings from each category will be selected from each district. The relevant winners will be brought up for the second round.
Competitions in the second round will be conducted with a special workshop at district level. All the winners selected for the second round will be presented with a certificate. Drawings selected from the second round will be presented to the final round of "State Children's Art Festival - 2025" and the winners therein will be presented with the awards, certificates and cash prizes.

Conditions
  1. Drawings could be on any theme, topic or subject of your choice.
  2. You could use any medium of your choice for the drawing.
  3. Each drawing should measure 11.7 x 16.5 inches (A3 paper) or 18x14 inches.
  4. Each applicant will be entitled to submit only one drawing
  5. Drawing should be forwarded only from the district of your permanent residence.
  6. Applicants should get their drawings attested as their own by placing the signature and the official frank of the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, the Higher Priest, the Principal of their school, a Justice of Peace, Head of the Arts Institution (Kalayathana) or the Grama Niladhari of their residential area.
  7. Duly filled application should be pasted undetached on the reverse of your drawing.
  8. Any drawing in which the conditions are not fulfilled and the particulars required are not correctly mentioned will be removed from the competition.
  9. Drawings once sent will not be returned.
  10. Drawings received will be evaluated by a proficient Panel of Judges. The winners so selected will participate in the relevant district competition and the venue, date and the time will be notified later.
  11. The decision of the Panel of Judges will be the final.
  12. Drawings should be sent by registered post or handed over to "Officer in Charge", National Art Gallery, Ananda Coomaraswami Mawatha, Colombo 07. "State Children's Art Festival - 2025", should be clearly written on the top left hand corner of the envelop/ parcel in which you send the drawing.

Central Environmental Authority has organized a photography Competition targeting the World Environment Day.

Theme of the Competition:

“The Environment Protects Us; Let Us Protect the Environment”

Objectives:
To raise awareness among the general public and school children about the importance of conserving Sri Lanka’s environment.

Competition Themes:

  • Hidden Biodiversity of Sri Lanka
  • The Relationship Between Humans and the Environment

Competition Categories:

School Category
Open to all school students (from government, semi-government, and private schools) in Grades 9 to 12.

Open to all Sri Lankan citizens.

Competition Rules and Regulations:

Submission Deadline: 23rd May 2025
  • Each participant may submit up to three (03) photographs — one per theme.
  • All photographs must be taken within Sri Lanka.

Disqualified Content:
  • Entries must NOT include
    • Farm animals, zoo animals, pets, or cultivated plants
    • Captive or restrained animals, animal models, or animals exploited for commercial gain
    • Images involving live bait
    • Previously published photographs
Submission Requirements:
Only original color or black-and-white digital images in JPG/JPEG format, max file size 10MB

If selected as a finalist or winner, the entrant must provide the original RAW file (e.g., CR2, CRW, or native DNG), or the original unedited JPEG

Finalists must also provide complete information about the photograph (location, date, camera settings, equipment used, etc.)

Digital Guidelines:
  • Images must be submitted as high-quality JPEGs without interpolation
  • Only minimal digital adjustments are allowed: dust spot removal, levels, curves, color balance, contrast, saturation, and sharpening
  • Cropping is allowed, but excessive cropping that significantly reduces image quality is discouraged
  • The integrity of the original scene must be maintained; no compositing, sandwiching, or multiple exposures
  • No adding or removing of elements such as animals, plants, people, or backgrounds
  • File names should include the participant’s name, title of the photograph, and main subject
  • No watermarks or visible names on images (photos with watermarks will be disqualified)

Applications are invited for the Sithuvili Siththam - 2025, All island Poster, Art and Cartoon Competition from National Child Protection Authority.

Closing Date 30.05.2025

  • For school Students from grade 1 to grade 5, only Arts can be submitted. 
  • Students studying from grade 6 to grade 13 can send both Arts& Posters. 
  • Students represent category (7) children with special needs can send only Arts.
  • Contestant of open section can send paintings from all three categories of Arts, Posters & Cartoons. 
  • Arts, Poster & Cartoons must be done in an A4 size paper using any medium (Pastel, Water Colors etc…) 
  • Deadline for the submission is 30th of May 2025 & paintings should be sent us on or before 30th of May 2025 by registered post or should handover to National Child Protection Authority by hand. 
  • (1.) Name of the competition, (2.) Section (3.) Category & (4.) Type of Painting(Art /Poster/Cartoon) should be mentioned on the top left corner of the envelop.

Notice to the Writers and the Book Publishers on the State Literary Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Panel of Literature.

Children's Books of more than 16 pages and other books of more than 49 pages, first published in Sinhala, Tamil or English languages during the period of 01st January 2024 to 31st December 2024 will be reviewed in this awards ceremony.

With a view to streamlining the process of reviewing, opportunity is available for the writers and the publishers from 08th April 2025 to hand over their books directly to the Department of Cultural Affairs, which have not been included in this book list.

Global IT Olympiad for School Students

Global IT Olympiad for School Students


School students from Russia and other countries aged 14 to 18 (inclusive), regardless of experience and knowledge in programming, are invited to take part in the Global IT Olympiad.

The key selection criteria: the participant must not be younger than 14 or older than 18 years old on the starting date of Stage I of the Olympiad; the participant must be a student of a comprehensive school.


Stages and Timing

The Global IT Olympiad consists of three stages
  1. Individual qualifications (online)
  2. Team qualifications (online)
  3. Finals (in-person).
Registration for the Olympiad: March 5 to April 10, 2025 (inclusive).

Upon completion of the registration form, all participants will be offered tests to check the level of their knowledge in IT. An e-certificate will be awarded to participants according to the test results.


Online individual qualifications: from April 2 to April 15, 2025 (inclusive).
The participant can set the challenge deadline that works best for them. At the first stage, participants will be given 15 exercises which are divided into three complexity levels (basic, medium, advanced) and cover key aspects of cybersecurity, including both

theoretical and practical challenges in Information Security, Mathematical Logic, Basics

of Programming and Algorithm Development, Artificial Intelligence, including data analysis, text processing, generation of simple models.

Capture The Flag online team contest: from April 21 to April 25 2025 (inclusive).

The teams for the Olympiad will consist of five participants. They will be chosen from the best performers in Stage I. During the CTF contests, challenges will cover AI and Machine Learning, Cryptanalysis, Reverse Engineering, Web Vulnerabilities, Forensics, Algorithmic Programming.
