Director Post – Applications Invited

The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, invites applications from suitably qualified citizens of Sri Lanka for the position of Director.

PIM was established in 1986 under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and is governed by PIM Ordinance No. 03 of 2018.

The Institute operates as a self-financing higher education institution, providing postgraduate education, professional training, research and development in management and administration.

Responsibilities of the Director

The selected Director will serve as:

• Principal Executive Officer of the Institute.
• Principal Academic Officer of the Institute.
• Accounting Officer of the Institute.
• Ex-officio member and Chairman of the Board of Management.
• Ex-officio member of the Boards of Study.

The Director is expected to provide academic, professional and administrative leadership and contribute to postgraduate management education, research and professional development.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

• Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Be below 63 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
• Possess outstanding academic and professional qualifications in management, administration or a relevant field.
• Have a commendable record of achievement, leadership, research and administration.
• Demonstrate significant professional contributions and relevant experience.

Salary and Appointment

The successful applicant will be appointed on a full-time basis for a period of three years from the date of appointment or until reaching the age of 65 years, whichever occurs earlier.

The selected applicant will receive the salary prescribed under Salary Code U-AC5, applicable allowances and other benefits attached to the post.

2. A Statement of Vision for the development of the Institute.
3. A brief account of the applicant's proposed achievements if appointed as Director. Applicants who currently or previously held this Director post must also submit a report on achievements during the previous tenure.
4. A complete Curriculum Vitae including date of birth, with a certified copy of the Birth Certificate.
5. Certified copies of academic and professional qualifications and documentary evidence relating to leadership, research publications, professional achievements, appreciations and administrative experience, where applicable.
6. Applicants serving in Public Service, Corporations, Statutory Bodies or Higher Educational Institutions must forward their applications through their institutional Head, together with confirmation of release if appointed.
