Entry Qualifications

Passed the GCE (A/L) Examination in three (3) subjects in one sitting

Passed the GCE (A/L) Examination in two (2) subjects in one sitting and is accredited with Two (02) years or more of work experience

Completion of NVQ Level 4 (advanced certificate) course from a recognized institution

Students expecting GCE (A/L) Results this year are eligible to apply. After the results are released, the result sheet should be provided to the coordinator. If the result is satisfied with the above qualifications, the candidate can continue the diploma course. If not, the candidate can complete the course as a certificate course.

Japan Scholarship Application for Teachers

The Embassy of Japan in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and has the honour to inform the latter that the Government of Japan proposes to offer the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships to several Sri Lankan teachers to enable them to take part in the Teacher Training Programme, the period of which starts in October 2026 and ends in March 2028,

Closing Date 28.01.2026

Age: In principle, applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991. Exceptions are limited to cases in which MEXT deems that the applicant could not apply within the eligible age limit due to the situation or circumstances of the applicant's country (military service obligation, loss of educational opportunities due to disturbances of war, etc.). Personal circumstances (financial situation, family circumstances, state of health, circumstances related to applicant's university or place of employment etc.) will not be considered for exceptions.

Academic and Career Background: Applicants must be graduates of universities or teacher training schools and have worked as teachers at primary/secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools (excluding universities) in their home countries for a total period of five years or more as of October 1, 2026. In-service faculty members in a higher education institution are not eligible.

Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese. Applicants must be interested in Japan and be willing to deepen their understanding of Japan after arriving in Japan. Applicants must also have the ability to do research and adapt to living in Japan.
