📌 What is Official Languages Proficiency Oral Test?
The Department of Official Languages has introduced the Official Languages Proficiency Oral Test for public officers and provincial public service officers to fulfill the official language proficiency requirement.
The oral examination includes:
- Listening Skills Assessment
- Speaking & Reading Skills Assessment
Candidates must obtain at least 40% marks separately in each component to pass.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year via the Department of Official Languages website.
📌 Important Details
- Only officers who passed Sinhala/Tamil as a second language at G.C.E O/L can apply.
- Application form should be completed in English.
- Oral test is conducted twice a year.
- Admission card signature must be certified by the Head of Institution.
- NIC / Passport / Driving License required for identity verification.
- Results will be published on the Department of Official Languages website.

✅ Level I – Rs. 2000
✅ Level II – Rs. 1500
✅ Level III – Rs. 1000
✅ Level I – Rs. 2000
✅ Level II – Rs. 1500
✅ Level III – Rs. 1000
