Post of Librarian – Vacancy Details
The University of Jaffna invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Librarian. Recruitment will be conducted through an evaluation of the applicant’s self-assessment and an interview.
Key Qualifications
- An acceptable Special or General Degree with the class specified in the official recruitment notice; or the alternative degree and postgraduate qualification stated in the notice.
- A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with a research component, or a Doctoral Degree.
- Publications in the field of Library and Information Sciences.
- At least 15 years’ experience after obtaining the first degree, or at least 10 years’ experience after obtaining the specified postgraduate qualification.
- Applicants must satisfy the applicable marking scheme and other requirements given in the official notice.
Salary and Allowances
- Salary scale: Rs. 198,280 – 13 × Rs. 4,850 – Rs. 261,330 per month
- Academic allowance: 124% of the basic salary plus Rs. 13,300
- Research allowance: 21%, subject to the applicable research activity requirements
- Cost-of-living allowance: Rs. 17,800 per month

- Titles of five outstanding research papers or publications
- Paid bank slip for the application fee
Application Fee
A fee of Rs. 2,000 should be deposited to the People’s Bank account stated in the official advertisement. The paid bank slip must accompany the application.
