📢 Recruitment Announcement
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced a competitive examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Superintendent of Hostels – Grade III under the Management Assistant (Non-Technical) Segment 02 Service Category.
Eligible Sri Lankan citizens may submit applications through the official online examination application system.
🎓 Educational Qualifications
G.C.E. Advanced Level:
- Applicants must have passed at least one subject at the G.C.E. A/L Examination.
- The Common General Test and General English are excluded when determining this requirement.
G.C.E. Ordinary Level:
- Must have passed six subjects at one sitting.
- Credit passes are required for Sinhala / Tamil / English language, Mathematics and two other subjects.
👤 Other Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Must be between 25 and 35 years of age on the closing date.
- Must be of excellent character.
- Must possess sufficient physical and mental fitness to perform the duties.
- Must be willing and able to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
💰 Salary and Service Conditions
Salary Code: MN 01-2025
Salary Scale:
Rs. 45,230 – 10 × 540 – 11 × 630 –
10 × 890 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 78,360
The stated salary scale applies from 01 January 2027 in accordance with Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025. Payments before that date are governed by the transitional provisions of the circular.
- The appointment is pensionable.
- Selected candidates must serve at least three years at their first place of appointment, subject to authorized exceptions.
- The first Efficiency Bar Examination must be passed within three years of recruitment.
- Applicable official language proficiency requirements must be fulfilled.
🏫 Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting the Hostel Superintendent in managing hostel activities.
- Maintaining student discipline, safety and welfare.
- Supervising food preparation, distribution and storage.
- Maintaining records related to hostel supplies and food purchases.
- Monitoring cleanliness, sanitation and hostel facilities.
- Attending to sick students and student welfare matters.
- Protecting government property and students' belongings.
- Carrying out other relevant duties assigned by institutional authorities.
📝 Examination Structure
The competitive examination will be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil. Candidates must select their examination medium at the time of application.

The interview carries 100 marks and assesses the following areas:

Applicants must be prepared to make a job-related presentation lasting no more than three minutes.
