High-Speed Fiber Internet Facilities for All Secondary Schools Across Sri Lanka
The national programme to provide high-speed fiber internet facilities to all government secondary schools across Sri Lanka is progressing successfully.
The programme is being jointly implemented by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) under its “Gamata Sanniwedanaya” (Communication to the Village) initiative and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
The main objective of this national initiative is to strengthen digital education and ensure equal access to modern information and communication technology facilities for students in both rural and urban areas.
6,225 Secondary Schools to Receive High-Speed Fiber Internet
Under this project, high-speed fiber internet connections are being provided to 6,225 secondary schools located throughout the country.
Current progress of the project:
- Schools that already had fiber connections before the project: 1,264
- Schools that have received new fiber internet connections under the project: 2,345
- Schools where fiber internet connections are currently being installed: 2,616
Fiber Internet Connections Provided by Province
- Western Province: 285 schools
- Central Province: 275 schools
- Southern Province: 300 schools
- Northern Province: 172 schools
- Eastern Province: 347 schools
- North Western Province: 334 schools
- North Central Province: 153 schools
- Uva Province: 176 schools
- Sabaragamuwa Province: 303 schools
Unlimited Internet Package – Rs. 5,130 Per Month
Under the project, arrangements have also been made to provide the relevant schools with unlimited internet packages at a monthly cost of Rs. 5,130.
A sum of Rs. 150 million has been allocated through the 2026 national budget for this purpose.
High-Speed Internet for 3,832 Primary Schools in 2027/2028
In addition to the secondary school programme, arrangements have been made to provide high-speed internet facilities to 3,832 primary schools across the country during 2027 and 2028.
Once the facilities are extended to primary schools, the project aims to ensure that all schools in Sri Lanka are equipped with high-speed internet connectivity.
Main Objective of the Programme
The programme is expected to support the implementation of the digital education concept and strengthen the education system in line with the new education reforms.
Its key objective is to provide equal access to modern information technology tools and digital resources for students and the wider public, regardless of whether they live in rural or urban areas.

ශ්රී ලංකා විදුලි සංදේශ නියාමන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ “ගමට සන්නිවේදනය” ව්යාපෘතිය සහ අධ්යාපන, උසස් අධ්යාපන හා වෘත්තීය අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශය එක්ව ක්රියාත්මක කරන රජයේ සියලුම ද්විතීයික පාසල් සඳහා අධිවේගී ෆයිබර් අන්තර්ජාල පහසුකම් ලබාදීමේ ජාතික වැඩසටහන සාර්ථකව ඉදිරියට ගෙන යමින් පවතී.
මෙම ව්යාපෘතිය යටතේ දිවයින පුරා පිහිටි ද්විතීයික පාසල් 6,225ක් සඳහා අධිවේගී ෆයිබර් අන්තර්ජාල සබඳතා ලබාදීමට නියමිතය.

- මධ්යම පළාත – 275

- වයඹ පළාත – 334
- උතුරු මැද පළාත – 153
- ඌව පළාත – 176
- සබරගමුව පළාත – 303
මෙම පාසල් සඳහා මාසිකව රු. 5,130 බැගින් වූ සීමාරහිත අන්තර්ජාල පැකේජ ලබාගැනීම සඳහා 2026 අයවැයෙන් රු. මිලියන 150ක් වෙන් කර ඇත.
මීට අමතරව, 2027/2028 වර්ෂවලදී දිවයින පුරා පිහිටි ප්රාථමික පාසල් 3,832ක් සඳහාද අධිවේගී අන්තර්ජාල පහසුකම් ලබාදීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.
ඒ අනුව, අවසානයේ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සියලුම පාසල් අධිවේගී අන්තර්ජාල පහසුකම්වලින් සමන්විත කිරීම මෙම ව්යාපෘතියේ ඉලක්කය වේ.
ඩිජිටල් අධ්යාපනය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීම, නව අධ්යාපන ප්රතිසංස්කරණ සමඟ අධ්යාපන ක්ෂේත්රය යාවත්කාලීන කිරීම සහ ග්රාමීය හා නාගරික වෙනසකින් තොරව සියලු සිසුන්ට නූතන තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණික මෙවලම් වෙත සමාන ප්රවේශයක් ලබාදීම මෙහි ප්රධාන අරමුණයි.

இலங்கை தொலைத்தொடர்பு ஒழுங்குமுறை ஆணைக்குழுவின் “கிராமத்திற்கு தொடர்பாடல்” திட்டமும், கல்வி, உயர்கல்வி மற்றும் தொழிற்கல்வி அமைச்சும் இணைந்து நடைமுறைப்படுத்தும் அனைத்து அரச இடைநிலைப் பாடசாலைகளுக்கும் அதிவேக ஃபைபர் இணைய வசதிகளை வழங்கும் தேசிய வேலைத்திட்டம் வெற்றிகரமாக முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
இந்தத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள 6,225 இடைநிலைப் பாடசாலைகளுக்கு அதிவேக ஃபைபர் இணைய இணைப்புகளை வழங்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மாகாண ரீதியாக ஃபைபர் இணைய இணைப்பு வழங்கப்பட்ட பாடசாலைகள்
- மேல் மாகாணம் – 285 பாடசாலைகள்
- மத்திய மாகாணம் – 275 பாடசாலைகள்
- தென் மாகாணம் – 300 பாடசாலைகள்
- வட மாகாணம் – 172 பாடசாலைகள்
- கிழக்கு மாகாணம் – 347 பாடசாலைகள்
- வடமேல் மாகாணம் – 334 பாடசாலைகள்
- வடமத்திய மாகாணம் – 153 பாடசாலைகள்
- ஊவா மாகாணம் – 176 பாடசாலைகள்
- சபரகமுவ மாகாணம் – 303 பாடசாலைகள்
மாதாந்தம் ரூ. 5,130 வரையறையற்ற இணையப் பொதி
மேற்படி பாடசாலைகளுக்கு மாதாந்தம் ரூ. 5,130 கட்டணத்தில் வரையறையற்ற இணையப் பொதிகளைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதற்காக 2026ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான வரவு செலவுத் திட்டத்தில் ரூ. 150 மில்லியன் ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
2027/2028 இல் 3,832 ஆரம்பப் பாடசாலைகளுக்கும் இணைய வசதி
மேலும், 2027 மற்றும் 2028 ஆண்டுகளில் நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள 3,832 ஆரம்பப் பாடசாலைகளுக்கும் அதிவேக இணைய வசதிகளை வழங்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ஆரம்பப் பாடசாலைகளுக்கும் இந்த வசதி வழங்கப்பட்ட பின்னர், இலங்கையிலுள்ள அனைத்து பாடசாலைகளையும் அதிவேக இணைய வசதிகளுடன் இணைப்பதே இத்திட்டத்தின் பிரதான இலக்காகும்.
டிஜிட்டல் கல்விக் கருத்திட்டத்தை நடைமுறைப்படுத்துதல், புதிய கல்வி மறுசீரமைப்புகளுக்கு ஏற்ப கல்வித்துறையை நவீனமயப்படுத்துதல் மற்றும் கிராமிய, நகர்ப்புற வேறுபாடின்றி அனைத்து மாணவர்களுக்கும் நவீன தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப கருவிகள் மற்றும் டிஜிட்டல் வளங்களுக்கு சமமான அணுகலை வழங்குதல் இத்திட்டத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
