1. Online Application

Applications must be submitted only through the online system. Schools may access the registration facility through the Department of Examinations website or directly through the online application portal.

1. Visit the Department of Examinations website and select Our Services.
2. Select Exam Information Centre.
3. Select GIT – 2026 Students Registration (School).
4. Log in using the School Code and Password provided to the school.

2. Eligible Students

Schools must submit applications only for students studying in Grade 12 in 2026 who are expected to sit the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the first time in 2027.

3. Selection of Examination Medium

The examination medium must be selected carefully when completing the application. The selected medium will not be changed later for any reason.

The principal and the responsible teacher must therefore confirm the correct examination medium before submitting each application.

4. Verification and School Records

• Carefully check all information entered in the online application.
• Print the completed application details and obtain the candidate's signature after confirming that the information is correct.
• Keep the signed copy safely at the school as an official examination document.
• After completing the data entry, download the PDF containing the submitted information.
• Compare the downloaded PDF with the Excel file prepared by the school.
• Confirm that all eligible candidates and all required details have been included correctly.

The principal and the responsible teacher are fully responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of the submitted data.

5. Candidates with Special Educational Needs

For candidates with visual impairments, hearing impairments or other special educational needs, schools must select:

Special Education Needs Students' Additional Data and then click Go to Data Form.

All requested information relating to the candidate's special needs must be entered accurately.

The notice also refers to special examination arrangements at:

• School for the Blind, Ratmalana.
• School for the Deaf and Blind, Polommaruwa, Tangalle.

6. Confirmation of Identity

Every school candidate must prove their identity at the examination using the National Identity Card issued by the Department for Registration of Persons.

Schools must take the necessary steps early to ensure that students obtain their National Identity Cards before the examination.

Instead of the National Identity Card, only the following may be accepted:

• A valid passport.
• A valid driving licence.

No other identity documents will be accepted.
