About the Examination

Applications are invited for the Efficiency Bar Examinations for Authorized Officers serving in Grade I and Grade II of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

The examinations will be conducted in Colombo during 2026 by the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, commonly known as SLIDA.

Grade II Efficiency Bar Examination

Examination Subjects

Examination Fees

• No examination fee is charged for the first attempt.
• Subsequent attempt for one subject: Rs. 500.
• Subsequent attempt for the entire examination: Rs. 1,500.

Clearly write the following on the top left-hand corner of the envelope:

Application Procedure

• Prepare the application according to the specimen form included in the Gazette notification.
• The application must be prepared using both sides of an A4-size paper.
• Sections 01 to 07 should appear on the first page, with the remaining sections on the second page.
• Applications may be typed or clearly completed in the applicant’s own handwriting.
• Applications must be forwarded through the relevant Sectional Head.
• Applications must be sent by registered post or handed over directly to the relevant officer at the Administration Branch.

Payment Information

Applicants who are required to pay the examination fee must deposit the applicable amount at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon.

The original payment receipt must be affixed to the relevant place in the application. Applicants are advised to retain a photocopy.

Examination fees will not be refunded or transferred to another examination under any circumstances.

Language Medium and Identification

Examination Medium

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. All prescribed subjects must be answered in the same language medium. Changing the selected language medium after submitting the application will not be permitted.
