Vacancy Announcement

Applications are invited from qualified citizens of Sri Lanka for vacancies in the Kalu Ganga Water Supply Expansion Project – I of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

These appointments will be made on a project contract basis. Applicants should possess the relevant educational qualifications, professional memberships and experience specified for each post.

1. Chief Engineer – Civil

01 Vacancy Salary Code C Rs. 305,000 + COL

Qualifications and Experience

Option 1: A bachelor’s degree in the relevant field and associate membership or a similar professional qualification from a recognized professional body, with at least 10 years of managerial-level experience in the relevant field.

Option 2: Corporate membership or a similar professional qualification from a recognized professional body, with at least 8 years of managerial-level experience in the relevant field.

Option 3: A Class I officer of a government All-Island Service or a person holding similar status in the relevant field, together with associate membership or a similar professional qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a Class I post or similar position.

2. Chief Engineer – Mechanical

Qualifications and Experience

Option 1: A bachelor’s degree in the relevant field and associate membership or a similar recognized professional qualification, with at least 10 years of managerial-level experience.

Option 2: Corporate membership or a similar professional qualification from a recognized professional body, with at least 8 years of managerial-level experience.

Option 3: A Class I officer of a government All-Island Service or similar status, together with associate membership or a similar professional qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a Class I post or similar position.

3. Engineer – Civil

Option 1: A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission in the relevant field, together with associate membership or a similar professional qualification and at least 7 years’ experience in the relevant field.

Option 2: A Class II/III or higher officer of a government All-Island Service, or a person holding similar status in the relevant field, with at least 7 years’ experience in a Class II/III post or similar position.

Option 2: A Class II/III or higher officer of a government All-Island Service, or similar status in the relevant field, with at least 7 years’ experience in a Class II/III post or similar position.

5. Project Accountant

01 Vacancy Salary Code D1 Rs. 260,000 + COL

Qualifications and Experience

Option 1: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission in the relevant field, together with the specified intermediate/business/corporate-level accounting examination or a similar recognized professional qualification, and at least 7 years of post-qualification experience.

Option 2: Associate membership or a similar professional qualification from a recognized professional body, with at least 4 years’ experience in the relevant field.

Option 3: A Class II/III or higher officer of a government All-Island Service or similar status in the relevant field, with at least 7 years’ experience in a Class II/III post or similar position.

Qualifications and Experience

Option 2: A Class II/III or higher officer of a government All-Island Service or similar status in the relevant field, with at least 7 years’ experience in a Class II/III post or similar position.

7. Engineering Assistant – Civil

02 Vacancies Salary Code F Rs. 160,000 + COL

Qualifications and Experience

Option 1: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission in the relevant field, or an NVQ Level 7 qualification in Civil Engineering accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, with at least 3 years’ experience in the required area of specialization.

Option 2: An NVQ Level 6 qualification relevant to the technical field, accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, with at least 6 years’ experience in Civil Engineering.

Option 3: An NVQ Level 5 qualification relevant to the technical field, accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, with at least 9 years’ experience in the required specialization.

8. Project Secretary

01 Vacancy Salary Code F Rs. 160,000 + COL

Qualifications and Experience

Option 1: Passed the G.C.E. O/L Examination in six subjects with four credit passes, including English and Sinhala/Tamil, and passed three subjects other than General Paper at the G.C.E. A/L Examination. Applicants should also have completed a secretarial course at a recognized institution or be pursuing examinations leading to Chartered Secretary, with at least 4 years’ relevant experience.

Option 2: Chartered Secretary qualification with at least 4 years’ experience in the relevant field.

9. Management Assistant – Accounts

01 Vacancy Salary as per relevant circulars

Qualifications

Applicants should have passed the first examination of CA Sri Lanka, CIMA or ACCA, the second examination of HNDA or CMA, or possess the full qualification of AAT. The qualification should not be below NVQ Level 5.

Salary will be determined according to Management Services Circular 02/2026 and Public Administration Circular 10/2025.

General Conditions

Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Applicants must be below 65 years of age on the closing date.
Appointments will initially be made on a one-year contract.
Contracts may be renewed annually, subject to satisfactory performance.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.
Selection will be based on performance at the interview.
Public and corporate sector applicants must submit applications through their respective Heads of Institutions.

Engineering Degree Requirement: A four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering awarded by a university approved by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka and recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, with the educational requirements necessary to obtain associate membership.
