Available Work Categories

Applicants should be willing and physically capable of performing the duties assigned under Israel’s Commerce and Services Sector. The available work categories include:

• Laundry workers
• Butchers, fishmongers and similar trades
• Unskilled gardening workers
• Kitchen assistants in non-restaurant food establishments or snack bars
• Recycling collection workers
• Manual packaging workers in delis and food retail stores
• Shelf stockers and merchandisers
• Parcel and cargo porters, messengers and carriers
• Food-production machine operators
• Packaging-machine operators
• Cargo handlers and movers
• Cleaning workers

Important: Applicants should be capable of performing several of the duties mentioned above and must be prepared to undertake the work assigned by the Israeli employer.

Main Eligibility Requirements

1. Applications are open to eligible males and females aged between 25 and 45 years.
2. The applicant must not be over 45 years of age at the PIBA “Name Check” stage.
3. Must be a Sri Lankan citizen holding a Sri Lankan passport valid for all countries.
4. Must have successfully completed at least 10 years of school education.
5. Must possess intermediate-level English communication and reading skills.
6. Must hold an SLBFE English-language certificate or an equivalent or higher qualification from an institution approved by SLBFE.
7. Must possess relevant work experience in the listed employment categories.
8. Must never have previously worked in Israel.
9. The applicant’s spouse, parents or children must not currently work or reside in Israel.
10. PIBA may disqualify an applicant in relevant circumstances if a sibling is living or working in Israel.
11. Must be physically and mentally fit to perform intensive labour.
12. Must be capable of heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking and other difficult duties.
13. Must be willing to undergo all medical examinations and other requirements imposed by the Israeli authorities.
14. Must have a clean police report and no history of drug, alcohol or cannabis abuse.
15. Applicants who worked abroad for more than six months may be required to submit a police clearance report from that country.
16. Must fulfil any additional requirements imposed by Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority – PIBA.

Health Requirements

Applicants must be in good physical and mental health and must not suffer from food or detergent allergies that could affect their ability to perform the assigned duties.

Applicants must not suffer from serious communicable or chronic health conditions, including tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhoea or any physical or mental condition that may prevent them from satisfactorily fulfilling their employment obligations.

Application and Selection Process

1. Eligible applicants must register through the official SLBFE Israel Web Portal.
2. The portal provides a total of 10,000 registration slots: 8,000 for males and 2,000 for females.
3. The application portal may close automatically once the relevant male or female registration limit is reached.
4. Applicants will receive the preliminary interview date, time and location by SMS.
5. The preliminary interviews will be conducted through SLBFE regional and provincial offices.
6. Attendance on the date stated in the SMS is compulsory. Another date may not be provided to absent applicants.
7. Applicants must produce all documents specified in the SMS on the preliminary interview date.
8. Applicants who pass the preliminary interview will undergo physical-fitness and skills assessments.
9. Only applicants who pass the required assessments will have their details forwarded to PIBA.
10. PIBA will conduct a random selection or lottery among the qualified applicants.
11. Only applicants selected through the PIBA lottery will become eligible to receive employment contracts.
