Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following permanent academic vacancies. The available grade will depend on the applicant's qualifications and the applicable University Grants Commission circulars.
01. Faculty of Agriculture
Crop Science
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or equivalent, with a major in Crop Science, from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualifications plus teaching and research experience.
Specializations: Perennial Crop Production (fruits and plantation crops) and Forestry.
Agricultural Microbiology & Plant Pathology
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or equivalent, with a major in Agricultural Biology, from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualifications plus teaching and research experience.
Specializations: Agricultural Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, Plant Pathology and Clinical Plant Pathology.
02. Faculty of Applied Sciences
Professor of Physical Sciences
Applicants must satisfy UGC Circular 916, Establishment Circular Letter 04/2010 and UGC Circular 04/2014.

Microbiology
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, or Applied Biology specializing in Microbiology, from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualification in Medical Microbiology, Virology (plant/animal/human), Immunology, Microbial Biotechnology, Microbial Ecology or Bioinformatics.
Biology / Zoology
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Applied Biology or Zoology from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate research containing a significant component of GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques, or Fisheries and Aquaculture Management.
Computing
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in ICT, IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems and Networking, or a related field.
Preference: Postgraduate qualifications in Computer Graphics and Immersive Technologies, Information Security, Computer Systems and Networking, or related areas.
03. Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences
Academic Post - Anesthesiology Preference
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: Board certification as a specialist in anesthesiology, or entry to the MD pathway in anesthesiology.
Anatomy
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent degree.
Biochemistry
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent degree.
Pharmacology
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Family Medicine; or MSc in Clinical Pharmacology from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Pathology
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: Relevant MD from PGIM, University of Colombo; or entry to the MD pathway in Histopathology, Haematology or Chemical Pathology.
Parasitology
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Parasitology with Board Certification from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Community Medicine
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MSc in Community Medicine; or MD in Community Medicine with Board Certification / entry to the MD pathway, from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Family Medicine
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Family Medicine from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Medical Microbiology
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Microbiology/Virology with Board Certification from PGIM, University of Colombo, or a doctoral degree in Medical Microbiology or a related discipline.
Forensic Medicine
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Forensic Medicine with Board Certification, or entry to the MD pathway in Forensic Medicine at PGIM, University of Colombo.
Surgery
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Surgery from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Psychiatry
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Psychiatry from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Paediatrics
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent.
Preference: MD in Paediatrics with Board Certification from PGIM, University of Colombo.
Medical Education
Minimum: MBBS or equivalent degree.
04. Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities
Mass Communication
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication or a related field from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualification in Mass Communication or a related field.
Education
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualification in Education or a related field.
Tourism Management
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Management or a related field from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualification in Tourism Management or a related field.
05. Faculty of Technology
Electrical & Electronic Technology
Minimum: BSc Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BET Honours in Electrical and Electronic Technology, or BSc Special Degree in Physics from a recognized university.
Preference: Postgraduate qualification in Electrical and Electronic Technology or a related field.
Specializations: Electrical Systems/Installations, Electronics, Telecommunication Systems, Wireless Communication, Robotics, Mechatronics, Digital Signal Processing, Drone Mapping, and Machine Learning/AI applications in Electrical and Electronics Technology.
Salary Scales & Academic Allowances
Allowance: 124% + Rs. 13,300
Allowance: 116% + Rs. 2,200
Allowance: 116% + Rs. 2,100
Allowance: 102% + Rs. 1,800
Allowance: 91% + Rs. 1,200
How to Apply
Professor of Physical Sciences
Senior Lecturer / Lecturer Posts
- Both online submission and the signed printed application are compulsory for Senior Lecturer/Lecturer posts.
- Apply separately, in separate covers, when applying for more than one post.
- Write the post applied for clearly on the top-left corner of the envelope.
- Public Service, Corporation, Statutory Board and University employees must apply through the Head of Institution. An advance copy should reach the University by 14 September 2026.
- Include degree certificates, detailed degree certificate/transcript, service certificates and all other required documents.
- Keep copies of the application and the Registered Post receipt.
