Open Competitive Examination 2026
English – Open Examination Qualifications
- The applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- The applicant must be between 18 and 30 years of age as at 25 September 2026.
- Eligible applicants should have been born on or before 25 September 2008 and on or after 25 September 1996.
- Applicants must be of excellent character and possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants must have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in six subjects in one sitting, with credit passes in four subjects, including Language and Mathematics.
- Applicants must have passed all subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in one sitting, excluding the Common General Test and General English.
- The language for which a credit pass was obtained at the O/L Examination should be the language medium selected for this competitive examination.
- All required qualifications must have been completed on or before 25 September 2026.
සිංහල – විවෘත තරග විභාගයේ සුදුසුකම්
- අයදුම්කරු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරවැසියකු විය යුතුය.
- 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 25 දිනට වයස අවුරුදු 18ට නොඅඩු සහ අවුරුදු 30ට නොවැඩි විය යුතුය.
- 2008.09.25 දින හෝ ඊට පෙර සහ 1996.09.25 දින හෝ ඊට පසු උපන් අයට අයදුම් කළ හැකිය.
- භාෂාව සහ ගණිතය ඇතුළුව විෂයයන් 4කට සම්මාන සාමාර්ථ සහිතව එක්වරකදී විෂයයන් 6කින් අ.පො.ස. සාමාන්ය පෙළ සමත් වී තිබිය යුතුය.
- සාමාන්ය පොදු පරීක්ෂණය සහ සාමාන්ය ඉංග්රීසි හැර, අ.පො.ස. උසස් පෙළ සියලු විෂයයන්ගෙන් එක්වරකදී සමත් වී තිබිය යුතුය.
- සියලුම සුදුසුකම් 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 25 දින හෝ ඊට පෙර සම්පූර්ණ කර තිබිය යුතුය.
தமிழ் – திறந்த போட்டிப் பரீட்சைக்கான தகைமைகள்
- விண்ணப்பதாரி இலங்கைப் பிரஜையாக இருத்தல் வேண்டும்.
- 25 செப்டம்பர் 2026 அன்று வயது 18க்கு குறையாமலும் 30க்கு மேற்படாமலும் இருத்தல் வேண்டும்.
- 25.09.2008 அன்று அல்லது அதற்கு முன்னர் பிறந்தவராகவும், 25.09.1996 அன்று அல்லது அதற்குப் பின்னர் பிறந்தவராகவும் இருத்தல் வேண்டும்.
- மொழி மற்றும் கணிதம் உட்பட நான்கு பாடங்களில் திறமைச் சித்திகளுடன், ஒரே அமர்வில் ஆறு பாடங்களில் க.பொ.த. சாதாரண தரப் பரீட்சையில் சித்தியடைந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
- பொதுச் சாதாரண பரீட்சை மற்றும் பொது ஆங்கிலம் தவிர, க.பொ.த. உயர்தரப் பரீட்சையின் அனைத்து பாடங்களிலும் ஒரே அமர்வில் சித்தியடைந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
- தேவையான அனைத்து தகைமைகளும் 25 செப்டம்பர் 2026 அன்று அல்லது அதற்கு முன்னர் பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும்.
Open Examination Selection
Selection will be based on the written examination, order of merit and the district population ratio, subject to the provisions contained in the official gazette notice. Applicants must carefully select the district under which they are eligible to compete.Limited Competitive Examination 2026
English – Limited Examination Qualifications
- This examination is only for permanent and confirmed officers in the Public Service who receive salaries under the Primary Level PL salary category or the MN 1-2025 salary code specified in Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.
- Officers of Provincial Public Services are not permitted to apply for this examination.
- Applicants must have completed at least five years of active and satisfactory service in a permanent appointment by 25 September 2026.
- Applicants must not have received a disciplinary punishment under the applicable provisions. This must be certified by the Head of the Department.
- Applicants must have passed at least six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in not more than two sittings, with two credit passes, including Language/Literature and Mathematics or an accepted Mathematics subject.
- Applicants must be of excellent character and possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Temporary and casual Public Service employees and employees of boards, corporations and similar institutions are not eligible.
- Employees engaged in semi-technical work or specially trained for a particular duty may not be eligible. Such applicants should obtain confirmation through their Head of Department before applying.
- All qualifications must have been completed by 25 September 2026.
සිංහල – සීමිත තරග විභාගයේ සුදුසුකම්
- මෙම විභාගය රාජ්ය සේවයේ ස්ථිර පත්වීම් දරන හා එම පත්වීම්වල ස්ථිර කර ඇති නිලධාරීන් සඳහා පමණි.
- රාජ්ය පරිපාලන චක්රලේඛ අංක 10/2025 අනුව PL වැටුප් කාණ්ඩය හෝ MN 1-2025 වැටුප් කේතය යටතේ වැටුප් ලබන සුදුසුකම් සහිත නිලධාරීන්ට අයදුම් කළ හැකිය.
- පළාත් රාජ්ය සේවයේ නිලධාරීන්ට අයදුම් කළ නොහැකිය.
- 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 25 දිනට ස්ථිර පත්වීමක අවම වශයෙන් වසර 5ක සක්රීය හා සතුටුදායක සේවා කාලයක් සම්පූර්ණ කර තිබිය යුතුය.
- දෙවරකට නොවැඩි වාර ගණනකදී භාෂාව/සාහිත්යය සහ ගණිතය ඇතුළුව අවම වශයෙන් විෂයයන් 6කින්, සම්මාන සාමාර්ථ 2ක් සහිතව අ.පො.ස. සාමාන්ය පෙළ සමත් වී තිබිය යුතුය.
- තාවකාලික හා අනියම් රාජ්ය සේවකයන් සහ මණ්ඩල, සංස්ථා හා සමාන ආයතනවල සේවකයන් මෙම විභාගයට සුදුසු නොවේ.
- අවශ්ය සියලුම සුදුසුකම් 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 25 දිනට සම්පූර්ණ කර තිබිය යුතුය.
தமிழ் – மட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட்ட பரீட்சைக்கான தகைமைகள்
- அரச சேவையில் நிரந்தர நியமனம் பெற்று, அந்நியமனத்தில் உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ள உத்தியோகத்தர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே இந்தப் பரீட்சை உரியதாகும்.
- பொது நிர்வாக சுற்றறிக்கை இலக்கம் 10/2025இன் கீழ் ஆரம்ப மட்ட PL சம்பளப் பிரிவு அல்லது MN 1-2025 சம்பளக் குறியீட்டின் கீழ் சம்பளம் பெறும் தகுதியுடைய உத்தியோகத்தர்கள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.
- மாகாண அரச சேவை உத்தியோகத்தர்கள் இந்தப் பரீட்சைக்கு விண்ணப்பிக்க அனுமதிக்கப்படமாட்டார்கள்.
- 25 செப்டம்பர் 2026 அன்று நிரந்தர நியமனத்தில் குறைந்தது ஐந்து வருட செயற்பாட்டுடனான திருப்திகரமான சேவையைப் பூர்த்தி செய்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
- இரண்டு அமர்வுகளுக்கு மேற்படாத வகையில் மொழி/இலக்கியம் மற்றும் கணிதம் உட்பட குறைந்தது ஆறு பாடங்களில், இரண்டு திறமைச் சித்திகளுடன் க.பொ.த. சாதாரண தரப் பரீட்சையில் சித்தியடைந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
- தற்காலிக மற்றும் அமைய அரச ஊழியர்கள், சபைகள், கூட்டுத்தாபனங்கள் மற்றும் அதுபோன்ற நிறுவனங்களின் ஊழியர்கள் தகுதியற்றவர்கள்.
- தேவையான அனைத்து தகைமைகளும் 25 செப்டம்பர் 2026 அன்று பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும்.
Important for Government Officers
A copy of the submitted application should be handed over to the Head of the Institution for inclusion in the personal file. When called for the interview, a certified copy of the application and a letter confirming the applicant’s service must be produced.Examination and Appointment Details
- The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
- A candidate may answer in only one selected language medium and must answer all papers in that same medium.
- The online application must be completed in the English language.
- The examination fee is Rs. 600 and should be paid using a payment method provided through the online application system.
- The salary scale is Rs. 48,470 – 10×540 – 11×630 – 10×1,010 – 10×1,190 – Rs. 82,800 under salary code MN 2-2025.
- The post is permanent and pensionable, subject to the applicable government rules.
- Selected candidates may be appointed to any part of Sri Lanka and will generally be required to serve at the first appointed station for at least three years.
