Applications are invited for the Open Competitive Examination to recruit Probation Officers Grade II for the Southern Provincial Department of Social Welfare, Probation and Child Care Services.
🎓 Educational Qualifications
- A degree awarded by a university recognized by the University Grants Commission in one subject or a combination of subjects from: Social Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Criminology, Law or Social Work.
- Applicants must also possess the required English-language qualification.
- A Credit Pass in English Language at the G.C.E. O/L Examination; or
- A one-year Diploma in English from a government-recognized institution; or a Simple Pass in English Language at the G.C.E. A/L Examination.
👤 Age Limit
Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years of age as at 25 September 2026.
📍 Residency Requirement
Applicants must have permanently resided within the Southern Province for at least three years immediately before the closing date. Relevant conditions apply to applicants who moved to the province after marriage.
🗺️ District Selection
Applicants must select only one district from Galle, Matara or Hambantota. The district selected in the online application cannot be changed later.
💰 Salary Scale
Salary Code MN 05-2025: Rs. 58,660 – 10 × 1,190 – 11 × 1,360 – 15 × 1,670 – Rs. 110,570.
The post is permanent and pensionable.
📚 Examination
Marks: 100 | Pass Mark: 40%

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Applicants must answer all papers in the language medium selected in their application.
💳 Examination Fee
The examination fee is Rs. 1,000. Payment must be made online using a VISA or MasterCard. Fees paid are not refundable.

விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் காலி, மாத்தறை அல்லது அம்பாந்தோட்டை ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் ஒரு மாவட்டத்தை மாத்திரம் தெரிவுசெய்ய வேண்டும்.
