The Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, invites applications for its MPhil/PhD Programme 2027.

The programme provides advanced research training, academic supervision and opportunities for independent research in management and related disciplines.

📚 Eligibility Criteria

MPhil Leading to PhD

Applicants should satisfy at least one of the following academic qualification pathways:

Option 1 – Bachelor's Honours Degree

Bachelor's Honours Degree (SLQF Level 6) from a recognized university with First Class or Second Class Upper Division, together with a thesis or subsequent published work in a subject area acceptable to the Faculty.

Option 2 – Bachelor's Degree with Research Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (SLQF Level 5) from a recognized university, covering relevant subjects of the proposed research area, together with postgraduate qualifications containing a substantial research component or acceptable published work.

Option 3 – Two-Year Master's Degree

Two-year Master's Degree with a substantial research component (SLQF Level 10), from a recognized university, in a relevant subject area acceptable to the Faculty.

Option 4 – Other Master's Degree

Any other Master's Degree (SLQF Level 9) in a relevant subject area, from a recognized university, with subsequent research acceptable to the Faculty.

English Language Requirement: Applicants must have a good command of the English language.

Direct Entry to PhD

Applicants may also qualify through an MPhil Degree (SLQF Level 11) of at least two years' duration in an acceptable subject area, or a relevant Bachelor's Degree together with a Master's Degree of at least two years including at least one year of research, subject to Faculty requirements.

📝 Application Procedure

1. Download the official application form.
2. Complete the application with accurate personal and academic information.
3. Prepare a research proposal of approximately 1,000–1,500 words following the Faculty guidelines.
4. Prepare scanned academic certificates and supporting documents.
5. Arrange the required academic references.
6. Pay the applicable application fee of Rs. 5,000 through the official payment facility or approved method.
7. Email the completed application and relevant documents to the programme office before the closing date.

📋 Admission and Selection

Selection will be based on the evaluation of applications, references, research proposals and interviews.
