Revision of Translation, Interpretation and Typing Fees – 2026

📅 Revised fees are effective from 01 August 2026

The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has revised the fees payable for translation, interpretation and typing services.

The revised rates were approved at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on 30 June 2026 and have been brought into effect from 01 August 2026.

📝 Translation Fees

Translation of Documents

A fee will be paid for every translated word, irrespective of the category or nature of the document.

Rs. 5.00 per word

The fee may be calculated according to the number of words in either the original document or the translated document.

🎙️ Interpretation Fees

Provincial and Local Authority Meetings

Concurrent or instantaneous interpretation of speeches at meetings of Provincial Councils and Local Authorities.

Rs. 1,400 per hour

Scientific or Technological Lectures

Concurrent or instantaneous interpretation of academic lectures of a scientific or technological nature.

Rs. 1,500 per hour

Public Meetings and Discussions

Interpretation of public meetings, discussions and other lectures not included under scientific or technological lectures.

Rs. 1,000 per hour

⌨️ Typing Fees

360 Words or More

Rs. 90 per page

240 to 359 Words

Rs. 80 per page

Less Than 240 Words

Rs. 60 per page

Stencil Cutting

Rs. 100 per page
These typing fees may also be paid for typing documents using a computer. The relevant fees should be paid only when the work is performed on a piece-rate basis.

සිංහල සාරාංශය

රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලන චක්‍රලේඛ 12/2003(V) මගින් භාෂා පරිවර්තන, භාෂණ පරිවර්තන සහ යතුරුලියන ගාස්තු සංශෝධනය කර ඇත.

භාෂා පරිවර්තනය කරන සෑම වචනයක් සඳහාම රු. 5.00ක් ගෙවනු ලැබේ. භාෂණ පරිවර්තන සඳහා පැයකට රු. 1,000 සිට රු. 1,500 දක්වා ගාස්තු නියම කර ඇත.

යතුරුලියනය සඳහා පිටුවක ඇති වචන සංඛ්‍යාව අනුව රු. 60, රු. 80 හෝ රු. 90ක් ගෙවනු ලැබේ. සංශෝධිත ගාස්තු 2026.08.01 දින සිට ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ.

அரசாங்க நிர்வாகச் சுற்றறிக்கை 12/2003(V) மூலம் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு, உரைபெயர்ப்பு மற்றும் தட்டச்சுக் கட்டணங்கள் மீளமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

மொழிபெயர்க்கப்படும் ஒவ்வொரு சொல்லுக்கும் ரூ. 5.00 செலுத்தப்படும். உரைபெயர்ப்புக்காக மணித்தியாலத்திற்கு ரூ. 1,000 முதல் ரூ. 1,500 வரை செலுத்தப்படும்.

தட்டச்சிடப்படும் ஒரு பக்கத்திலுள்ள சொற்களின் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு ஏற்ப ரூ. 60, ரூ. 80 அல்லது ரூ. 90 செலுத்தப்படும். மீளமைக்கப்பட்ட கட்டணங்கள் 01.08.2026 முதல் நடைமுறைக்கு வருகின்றன.

Public Administration Circular 09/2025(I) on banning single-use plastic water bottles in government institutions Sri Lanka


The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has issued Public Administration Circular 09/2025(I) regarding the formalization of solid waste management activities in government institutions. According to this amendment circular, the purchase and use of single-use plastic water bottles in all government institutions must be completely discontinued with effect from 31.05.2026. Relevant Gazette Notifications and Circulars are provided below in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.

Formalizing Solid Waste Management Activities in Government Institutions

Important Notice

The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has issued Public Administration Circular 09/2025(I) regarding the discontinuation of single-use plastic water bottles in all government institutions with effect from 31.05.2026.

All government institutions are also instructed to prevent the use of prohibited single-use plastics according to the relevant Gazette Notifications.

Key Highlights

  • Single-use plastic water bottles will be banned in all government institutions.
  • Effective Date – 31.05.2026
  • Issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government
  • Related Gazette Notifications have also been attached below.

Important Information

All Heads of Government Institutions are required to take necessary action to prevent the use of prohibited single-use plastics within their institutions according to the relevant Gazette Notifications.

This circular has been issued with the concurrence of the Ministry of Environment.
