Essay and Poetry Writing Competition

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has organized an exciting Essay and Poetry Writing Competition as part of its Open Day 2026 celebrations.

Both School Students and University Students are invited to showcase their creativity and writing skills by participating in this special event.

📌 Competition Categories

✅ University Category
Open to students of all recognized state and private universities.

✅ School Category
Open to students studying in Grades 10, 11, 12 and 13.

✍️ Essay Topics

  1. Social Media and Reading Culture in the Digital Age
  2. The Need for and Impact of New Educational Reforms on Sustainable Development
  3. The Role and Importance of Law in Building a Just and Equitable Society

🎭 Poetry Competition

Participants are invited to submit original poetry compositions based on a theme of their choice, reflecting their creativity.

• Name of School / University Faculty / Programme of Study
• Registration Number (if applicable)
• Contact Number
• Email Address
• Title of the Submitted Entry

📖 Important Rules

✅ Entries must be original work.
✅ Submissions are accepted in Sinhala, Tamil or English.
✅ One entry per category in a single language.
✅ Essay submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.
✅ Poetry submissions should not exceed 4 A4 pages.
✅ School entries must be certified by the Principal or Vice Principal.
✅ University entries must be certified by the Dean, Head of Department or Senior Lecturer.
✅ Entries should be submitted in PDF format through the official Google Form.

All Island Business and Entrepreneurship Skills Evaluation Competition 2026 Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has organized the All Island Business and Entrepreneurship Skills Evaluation Competitions 2026 to develop entrepreneurial skills, innovation, and business knowledge among students from Grades 6–13.

  • Business Knowledge Exam (Grades 10–13)
  • Entrepreneurship Presentation (Grades 6–13)
