Application for the Appointment of Quazi Judges


Judicial Service Commission is calling for applications in terms of the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act (Chapter 115) to fill vacancies in the 'Quazi' posts for the areas indicated in the
following schedule.

1. Badulla
2. Beruwala
3. Colombo South
4. Kattankudy
5. Matale
6. Mawanella
7. Puttalam & Chilaw
8. Sammanthurai
9. Udathalawinna (Uda, Meda & Pahatha Dumbara)
10. Jaffna


Basic Qualifications
  • A Muslim married male over 40 years of age
  • A graduate of a recognized University or 
  • A Moulavi holding a certificate from an institution recognized by the Ministry in charge of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs or
  • A holder of Al-Alim certificate issued by the Department of Education or
  • An Attorney at Law or a holder of other similar qualifications or
  • A retired public servant who has held office in staff grade.
  • A person currently holding a permanent post in the public service shall not be eligible  to apply.
Other Qualifications
  • Applicant should be a follower of Islam religion and should be physically fit and of good character and standing in the community and possessing a sound knowledge of the law relating to Muslim Marriage and Divorce and specially the Muslim Law.
  • The selected applicant will be appointed for a period, which will be specified in the letter of appointment.
  • It is a legal requirement that a Quazi should reside in the area for which he is appointed. Payment



A Quazi will be paid a total amount of Rs. 13,750/- inclusive of a monthly allowance of Rs. 7,500/= and an additional all inclusive allowance of Rs. 6,250/= per month for the cost of support services, stationary and postal expenses.

Data Entry Operator – 01 Position

Qualifications 
Having passed all subjects in G. C. E. (A/L) Examination at one sitting (except the general paper) and Six (6) passes at the G. C. E. (O/L) examination with four (4) Credit passes including English, Sinhala/Tamil Language and Mathematics in one sitting. 

With 
NVQ Level 3 qualification in Computer application and at least 3 years of work experience in computer literacy (MS packages, internet, e-mail).

And 
Practical knowledge of Photography, Videography, Photoshop and SQL knowledge in Relational database experience is an added qualification.

Job description 
  • To design posters, and leaflets, edit videos, make creative productions, use Photoshop/ Adobe Premier, SLR camera, Video Camera and troubleshoot Computer device. 
  • To maintain Relational Database (MySQL), address technical issues on MySQL database and create/update advanced SQL queries.

State Literary Awards Ceremony - 2025


Notice to the Writers and the Book Publishers on the State Literary Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Panel of Literature.

Children's Books of more than 16 pages and other books of more than 49 pages, first published in Sinhala, Tamil or English languages during the period of 01st January 2024 to 31st December 2024 will be reviewed in this awards ceremony. 

Among these books, the State Panel of Literature itself will receive books registered with the Department of National Archives for reviewing. Click Below for The list of these books

With a view to streamlining the process of reviewing, opportunity is available for the writers and the publishers from 08th April 2025 to hand over their books directly to the Department of Cultural Affairs, which have not been included in this book list.
